I may be bias but that was the best long-distance buzzer beater I have ever seen. Not only did he make it from there, but he stole the ball right before it too [IMG]

You know the thing concerns me the most right now is that Jose Calderon is playing so well that we might not be able to afford him after the season is done. At the begining of the year I thought we could probably obtain him for around the mid-level exception, but it looks like he's going to go for more than that right now the way he's been playing. Props to the guy i hate for bringing him in (Babcock).

I think the big thing we have going for us is that he seems to like it here. He seems to enjoy having all the Europeans around and he seems to like Toronto. Add in the fact that we're an improving team and I don't think we will have too much problems resigning him. Colangelo knows talent when he sees it so he's not going to let him get away for nothing.

Well, is he really worth anything more than the MLE? This is a guy whose defensive game and shooting, while having improved this season, is still suspect. I doubt he'd fetch anything more than the MLE, considering the deals that guys like Speedy Claxton and Derek Fisher got on the free agent market.

I agree. At this point, unless he substantially improves during the rest of the year, he'll likely still be seen as a backup for better teams, but possibly a starter for bad teams. I'm guessing he would be able to command $4-5 million right now and that's about how much I would pay him.

I dunno .... I was pretty much of that opinion too until late. I agree he has to keep up his standard of play, but if he does that I think someone may be willing to toss a little more money than we are prepared to offer. I do think that we do have the advantage relative to other teams because of the international aspect of Toronto, and we've also got Garbo .

I don't think I would want to go much higher than $4-5 million, even if that meant losing him to another team. Let's be realistic, Calderon will likely always stay as a backup as long as TJ is here. The way TJ has played so far and the fact that he just signed long term leads me to believe he won't be going anywhere for a while. TJ at 8 million and then if we sign Calderon for like 7-8 million, we would be spending about 15-16 million on one position. That's a little too much in my opinion. We still need upgrades at other positions.

But if Calderon can get that from another team, good for him though, I just don't think it's in the Raptor's best interests.

Calderon's contract ends in 2007 - 2008 season doesn't it? So by the end of next season he could be gone, but the Raps have bird rights on him, so they can sign him to anything without having to use their MLE i think.
