Nobody has even mentioned that the ESPN analyst mentioned in the first few moments of the game that he talked to Stotts about Nurkic and left with the impression that Stotts wasn't optimistic about Nurkic's return.

I want to believe he'll return, but part of me feels like the team is keeping Nurk going as half-ploy, half-WTF-happens-we-magically-upset-GSW? I don't know what to believe. But I've seen my teams too many times parade players around like they might play and then don't. I'm scarred for life.

Game 1 is 2 and a half weeks after his injury.

Game 3 is over 3 weeks after.

I think it's the typical coach not wanting to play an injured player at all, and the injured player wanting to play.

Here's what I think is going to happen...

I think Stotts is going to rest Nurk for the first two games, and we'll lose both of them.

Then I think Nurk comes back for game 3, but he'll be rusty, and won't make as significant of an impact as we hope. We'll lose that game, but not by much.

Game 4 rolls around, and Dame will have a break-out performance, with much help from Nurk. We'll win.

    Game 5 is anyone's guess.

But...if it goes to game 6, Curry will go absolutely ape shit, and we'll lose and be knocked out.

The problems will then come from the fan base whining about "what if Stotts played Nurk for those first two games?" And we'll be left to always wonder "what if".

That's my prediction. Obviously, I hope I'm wrong, and we somehow win in 6 or 7 games.

He has being doing pool work for cardio and what is sometimes referred to as weightless training trying to keep his cardio up. It's not the same as game action but will help at least a little if he is able to play.

Game 2 or 3 are the likely targets.

...same! His pain tolerance is clearly high enough to play an entire game without resting his leg so I'm with you, the big man is going to be out there from the jump!

Anyone else have concerns about Nurkic being out on the floor with Draymond "bush league" Green?

Nurkic would become a fan favorite across the league if he did that.

Well that would mean Stotts was being coy with the reporters trying to keep GS guessing.

This whole situation reminds me of the time BRoy got hurt before the PHX series and came back 6 days after tearing his meniscus. ugh

Was never really the same after that

WAY different injury. Not even close to the same. I can't think of a single player in any sport that has ever suffered a career ending broken fibula. Shit, Paul George completely snapped his fibula and his tibia completely in half and was back to playing like an all star a year later. That's a much more serious injury - a complete break of both lower leg bones, including the much larger, load bearing tibia.

Joe Thiesmann's famous career ending broken leg was a compound fracture of both lower leg bones. Both bones were shattered on impact. However, it was the tibia that wouldn't heal sufficiently for him to resume his career. He was 36 at the time, so he probably didn't have much longer to play anyway. Unless Lawrence Taylor is suiting up and blitzing in full helmet and pads, I don't think we have to worry about Nurk receiving that kind of impact.

Other than things like navicular bones in the feet, most broken bones heal stronger than before the injury. Nukic has a non-displaced fracture that didn't require surgery, or even walking on crutches. He played an entire game, and played well, after hurting the leg. He'll be fine.
