Rangers Videos on Twitter: ""He's a coach that lets you go out there and do your thing" Barclay Goodrow on Gerard Gallant: https://t.co/S11nmeWssI" / Twitter

I have not been too hard on Gallant overall, like every coach he has pros and cons. And I also take all player quotes with a grain of salt. But after what we just watched, I do not like this quote from Goodrow. "A coach who lets you go out there and do your thing" - that translates to a lack of plan, lack of system, lack of structure, and importantly a lack of accountability. And that is EXACTLY what we all saw this series. A bunch of very good hockey players all just doing their own thing, loose with the puck, with no structure or identity to fall back on. Not a team. When you don't start with a cohesive gameplan, you can't adjust it.

Goodrow did not win two cups with a coach who let him go out there and do his own thing.

Dach, Cozens and Zegras were all available after Kakko, so we clearly had a chance to get a center and chose not to. Doesn't matter, though. We would have treated them no different than Lafreniere and Kakko as role players and not put them in a position to succeed and live through their growing pains. Dach struggled for the first 2 years but seemed to have been doing better this past season playing at a 50+ point pace and Cozens and Zegras are now 60+ point players.

We just refuse to commit to forwards. 14 years after being drafted, Kreider is still the only forward we have developed and kept on the team. That's almost half a generation. In his last season with us JT Miller barely got 16 mins a game. It's only been Buchnevich, in his last season here, where we had a drafted forward get 18+ mins a game over a season. That is 1 player since Kreider in 14 years. Terrible job by this organization.

Tkachuk he’s not a center and look what he’s doing. Same with Marner. Stone. Kreider was the only player basically the score any goals for us in the playoffs.

Supposedly Drury and Gallant had a big argument after the game.

I heard from somebody working at one of the suites in the garden that Gallant was on the hot seat during the season. I would bet it’s about the development of the young forwards for starters.

Probably just the 'it's game 7 and we don't care what we look like' performance.

The Rangers need some discipline and structure. Gallant and AV are both "players coaches", and we need someone who will be tougher on the players and hold them accountable with a plan and system. Get one of the big 4, preferably JQ.

I hope the assclowns working our cap, plan on having money free when Draisaitl and McDavid are UFA's because I don't think they are resigning there. Not if that dumbass GM doesn't get a real goalie and he just gave Campbell 5 year, 25 m contract and he blows. Both will be 30 when they are UFA. Draisaitl in 2 years, McDavid in 3.

If the Rangers bought Panarin out this year, wouldn't make any sense. They would only save about 650 thousand the next 3 years. My guess is they will do everything in their power to move him. Even if they have to play half his salary. If they can't move him, next season buy him out just to get rid of him.

Moving Panarin is going to be very difficult. He loves NY, he has a NMC, he has an AAV of $11.6M for many more years. Seems highly unlikely we are able to move him. Sad part is, if this guy would just play the right way in the playoffs, he would be very valuable. No one can argue how talented he is, and he's a total stud in the regular season, he just refuses to play playoff hockey. That is where I am hopeful a new coach comes in and actually holds players accountable to play the right way, Panarin included. If he has to stay, I have not given up hope yet.

I'd guess Goodrow goes, and maybe if it is the right deal for the right player, one of the kids like Miller, Laf, or Kakko (but it would have to be a heck of a deal).

Moving Panarin would be a miracle but let's hope Drury can pull it off. Wish we had the ability and desire to be aggressive in getting younger, top players, like having figured out how to get Eichel here back when he was available. He's back to being a PPG player in reg season and playoffs. Or gone out and gotten Tkachuk from Calgary as he's proven to be a monster of a player.

I think we are all pretty much in agreement at this point, we need to go after different types of players. Too many high skill finesse guys. 3rd line that is a skill finesse line. To your point 31, guys like Eichel and Tkachuk, playoff type players, are what we need. Not close to enough guys willing to pay the price on this team, and in a way I get it as that is not the type of players they are, so why would we expect them to be Kreider and stand in front of the net and take the pounding. No one does that on this team outside of Kreider and very rarely Kakko. Same on the forecheck.

It is not easy to remake a team and find those players, ask the Leafs and Oilers, but that is what we need 2 or 3 more of those players, and a legit 3rd line C who can win FO's consistently.

Very curious to see what Drury does this summer, as he is under pressure to win soon, I have little doubt about that. He'll be aggressive I think.

Eichel trade looks good now but look what they gave up.....All for a player that 1) Wouldn't play for 6 mo and 2) Was having back surgery and you didnt know how he would hold up.

They gave up a 26 year old 6'4 power forward in Tuch (35 goals this year), #17 overall Krebs, a top 10 protected 1st rounder and a 2nd round pick.

For a player that had alot of medical questions. This board would have melted down if the Rangers did that.

Tuch is good for sure, but top prospects and picks i would not have cared much about considering we would have fucked them up anyway the way we have with Lafreniere and Kakko.

Is it lack of development or the fact that the Rangers are a historically awful team at drafting? 2013 -2017 absolutely horrible 1st round picks.

I read somewhere that the Seattle's assistant coach is raved about. He might be an option. I don't want another retread coach.

Sounds like they're looking at Toronto's assistant too.

I'm curious about which way Drury is taking this team after his first successful year with the gritty strategy he reverted back to the old Rangers losing ways. The Panthers took a page from the book of grit landing Tkachuk and Benning and shocked the hockey world. Cuylle is a good step in the right direction for Drury.

Tkachuk is a beast. Any chance we can get the other brother out of OTT?

Would love the brother out of Ottawa but you'd have to pay a kings ransom if he was even available. Ive seen a lot of rumors about possible veteran and also assistant coaches for us but a little surprised that we haven't heard about any possible interviews with anyone. Is Drury that stealth or waiting till the end of the season for some reason. I saw in the paper today Q is going to meet with bettman after the season is over. I wonder if Drury wants to take a crack at him if he's reinstated first before anything else
