This was never built to be a three line team where your 4th line can't do anything. AV screwed up. The Rangers don't tank seasons to get franchise players. They draft 2 way players. They should build 4 lines with 2 way players. You could make the case next year, they dump that tool Glass, maybe trade Yandle to the Kings who love him for Dwight King and a 2nd that this is a far better playoff team. Let's say we keep Nash to make some on the board happy.

    Zucc-Brassard-Nash
    Kreider-Stepan-Miller
    King-Lindberg-Hayes
    Hagelin-Moore-Fast

That's the thing. It's really easy to get on Boyle while blissfully ignoring how bad Staal was in these playoffs. Hayes I give him a break because I think he just ran out of gas. Hagelin to me played himself out of a new contract. I wouldn't resign him or St. Louis and I would like for a bigger forward on the free agent market.

To me, that is the way the team was built. Put Boyle out to pasture and go with this on defense.

    McDonagh-Girardi
    Skjei-Klein
    Staal-McIlrath

Time to bring in 2 kids on the d-core and stop with this idiotic hatred AV has for McIlrath. Let him police the team during the regular season and develop as the 6th defenseman.

I think that is more in line with the minor moves I see happening. Adding a top 9 righty is the play I think. If you can sqeeze in Hags still that is fine. Give Lindberg a shot. I have no issue with that. To me that is in line with what I see happening. I don't see Yandle being dealt AT ALL with a 2.6 mill cap hit, but adding that forward with a little grit and a righty shot is key.

Are you going to guarantee Staal gets his head out of his ass?

They are not trading Yandle into the season dump...I just don't see it at a 2.6 mill cap hit.

Is he also going to gurantee McIlrath can skate better than we can Mess...LOL.

Yandle is not getting dealt...I can almost guarantee that. You don't give up what we did, and have him at a great 2.6 mill cap hit for a cap challenged team, and deal him...no way.

No guarantee 31 but I want McIlrath up and playing. That's the end of it. No more of this anti-McIlrath crap from AV. It was stupid from day one.

you still have Yandle for a year so this wont happen. Nevermind that both rookies wont be on the D core for next year.Pipe dreaming with prospects again isnt healthy.

I am with you Mess. I give Hayes a pass for sure as a rookie. I also have no issue moving on from Hags at 3 mill +/-, just not sure we will.

Yandle was fourth highest in points in the playoffs and lead all defensemen on this team.

Brooks said it best about St. Louis this morning.

Marty St. Louis, who will turn 40 next month, appeared to age 10 years over the tournament’s six-plus weeks, and essentially was useless over the last two rounds, his future in New York surely past.

Feel bad, but true. The interesting situation will be if he wants to play, and play only for us, would he take like 1-2 mill only? To me if you got him back around 1.7 mill let's say, you could do a lot worse than him. Hags at 3 or MSL at 1.7...I would take MSL.

Don't see it because pride will make him want more than 1.5-2 mill, but it would be interesting if he said I would play for less than 2 mill.

Richards went to Chicago for $2 million so I guess we shall see. Hagelin I feel they have to move on from especially when you have Zucc here.

Richards also had a huge check coming from us this season, so that makes it different. But it is possible. All I am saying is I want MSL gone, but truth be told if he wanted to play here for less than 2 mill it isn't crazy to bring him back. He was a leader and did score 20 this season. As a 3rd line guy at 2 or under you could do a lot worse. But I also agree it is Hags OR MSL...don't want both back. If Hags wants 3 mill or more maybe MSL is the fallback at 1.7 or 2. I think one should be back for the 3rd line.

I readily admit I have little to no idea about free agents available this summer. I'd have to see that before making those determinations. I really would like to see a forward with some size over MSL or Hags.

I tend to agree, I just have a feeling that if MSL says I want to keep playing and only want to be here, something could get worked out for 2 mill or under...who knows though.

If I were betting I think 1 of those 2 will be back, but you never know. I do think a top 9 righty is a must though. I also think Talbot gets dealt for sure unless there is simply no market.

Talbot is getting moved for sure. It's not even a matter of if because #1 you have to sell high and #2 if you don't he will get signed as a free agent after next year so you lose him for nothing.
