You really think Kapono will start over Bargnani? I think Mitchell will start him to see how they all work out. He wants to play SF, but he might be better off the bench then you have a pretty good bench. How much cap space do we have left? Cause we do need a back-up, no matter how much Calderon wants to play 48 minutes every game.

I don't know if Kapono will start over Moon, but he should. Smitch's fascination (self-association?) with Moon needs to end because he is predisposed to taking bad shots and doesn't crash the lane enough. We don't have cap space, I'm going to make a salary thread to clear that up. We have the MLE (about six million) and the LLE (about two million) and I think that is it. I can't even remember if we have the LLE, did we spend it last year?
Mitchell loves Moon, you're right and I do think that Moon takes some bad shots, but I rather have him start then Kapono. He's got more to his game and I think he has that ability to get into the lane and make things happen. The MLE is 6 million? Not bad, I think we can get a decent player for that amount. But I'll wait till your thread goes up, that should help clear things up.
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (speeds @ Jun 27 2008, 12:54 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}></div><div class='quotemain'>With all due respect, Anthony Parker hasn't shut anybody down. Redd would be a massive upgrade, but I'm just using him as an example. In a perfect world we'd get someone like Joe Johnson, but that is a pipe dream. Someone like Pietrus is the most likely, but I think we'll split our monies on a PG and a veteran big.</div> There's something to be said for having a legit shotblocking presence and solid post defender playing you. I look at Boston, where a historically terrible defender in Ray Allen was able to play passable defense against Kobe Bryant because he had Garnett patrolling behind him. Parker's always been a fundamentally sound perimeter defender, who IMO, has been left on an island on most nights (both because of his fellow guards and our terrible post D). I'd say its the main reason he's been so inconsistent. I also believe that O'Neal and Bosh down low can allow us to put Kapono on the floor without sacrificing too much defensively. I'd like us to look at bringing in the other Warrior, Azubuike. He's a much more consistent, dependable player than Pietrus who has a similar skillset. He can penetrate, while not being a liability from long range (as Jamario currently is). <div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (Master Shake)</div><div class='quotemain'>You really think Kapono will start over Bargnani? He's just too slow to play D against most swingmen and that was blatantly obvious during the Orlando series. I like that he can step in specific circumstances, but its not enough for me to put him down there on our depth chart. Right now, Andrea's natural position is PF. And I want him to back Bosh up there. Kapono showed how misused he was all season long in the playoffs and I think that him, Parker, and Jose just force teams to give a ton of space for Bosh and O'Neal. Obviously you'd like more penetration from our guards. I hope Parker can do that a bit more consistently (like that month-long stretch when Bosh was out), but I wouldn't count on it. That could be the ultimate failing of this starting lineup, so we'll see how it plays out. Jamario would be an awesome sparkplug off of the bench though.
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>LAS VEGAS - The younger brother of Raptors star Chris Bosh was named to the 11-man roster for Toronto's summer league team on Monday. Joel Bosh, 22, will make his professional debut following a four-year playing career at Alabama State. Forward Joey Graham will make his second summer-league appearance for the Raptors. He was their first-round pick, 16th overall, in the 2005 draft. Rounding out the roster were former New Jersey Nets guard Hassan Adams, Deji Akindele, Sean Banks, Rod Benson, Coleman Collins, Daniel Ewing, Thomas Gardner, John Lucas III and C.J. Giles. Joel Bosh, Hassan Adams, Deji Akindele, Sean Banks, Rod Benson, Coleman Collins, Daniel Ewing, Thomas Gardner, John Lucas III and C.J. Giles. I like that line-up. I wanna see Bosh's bro do well and see him make the team. Also, Adams, DE and Benson. Nothing would make me happier then to have 'Boom Tho' make the team and drop 27 on the Nets every night. Also, I'll be makeing a Summer League thread and keeping track of how the greatest summer league team in the NBA is doing.
Welcome to the <span style="color:#ff0000">Raptors Summer league Thread</span>. Here we will all discuss the Raptors Summer League team, their results, win, and complete and utter ownage of the rest of the NBA. So, here is the team: Joel Bosh, Hassan Adams, Deji Akindele, Sean Banks, Rod Benson, Coleman Collins, Daniel Ewing, Thomas Gardner, John Lucas III and C.J. Giles. Post your ideas on the starting five, who will score the most, who will have a great summer league, who will suck, who do you think will make the Raps, who won't, etc.. LEZ GO!

Wow this team has a lot of talent on it. I'm surprised Daniel Ewing wasn't in the NBA last year, dude has a lot of talent and skill and could certainly make the league one day as a 10th man. Also John Lucas III is another one of those young, borderline-roster spot type of guys that will probably end up in the league with a couple more years of seasoning. Plus CJ Giles, Deji Akindele (where the hell has this guy been the last few years?), Hassan Adams, Rod Benson. Seems like they got most of the young 22-24 year olds who've been knocking at the NBA door the last 2 or 3 seasons, I think at least one of these guys will earn a training camp invite and its quite possible they'll stick on a team this year. As far as owning the rest of the summer league teams, watch out for my GS Warriors' teams; starting lineup of CJ Watson, Marco Belinelli, Anthony Randolph, Brandan Wright, Richard Hendrix, with Louis Amundson, Demarcus Nelson, Mykal Riley, and Tamar Slay as some of the notable UD/FA guys.

<div align="center">Kings tame Raptors in Summer League Opener (<span style="font-size:12pt;line-height:100%">SACRAMENTO 93 - TORONTO 86</span>)</div> <div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>Las Vegas, July 12 - The Sacramento Kings defeated the Toronto Raptors, 93-86, in the first of four games during the second day of competition at the 2008 NBA Summer League Presented by EA Sports at the COX Pavilion on the campus of UNLV. Sacramento had four players finish in double figures, led by Spencer Hawes?€™23 points. Other notable scorers were Quincy Douby with 20, Shelden Williams with 16, and Jason Thompson with 12. "It felt good to be out there playing in a real game again,"? said Spencer Hawes, a second-year player for the Kings. "It took a little bit, but I got comfortable again and I just tried to assert myself." The first quarter finished with the two teams knotted within two points, 25-23 with the Raptors on top. At the end of the half, six ties had been recorded between the clubs, with Toronto owning a one-point lead; 44-43. Raptor Joey Graham led all scorers in the half with 15 points, while Hawes led his squad with 14 points. The third quarter was tight the whole way, with the Raptors holding a slight lead until Sacramento guard Sean Singletary converted an and-one with 1:36 remaining to tie the game at 62 then take the lead with the free throw. The period finished with the Kings holding onto a 68-66 advantage. Sacramento started off the 4th quarter with a 7-0 run to give them their biggest lead of the game at 75-66. Toronto cut the deficit down to three, 86-83, with just under a minute remaining, but an emphatic put-back dunk by Hawes sealed the deal for the Kings. Toronto was led by Joey Graham who finished with 24 points and Jaycee Carroll who tallied 14 in the loss. "I thought we played really hard - it was a physical game," said Raptors Summer League head coach Eric Hughes. "They have four first round draft picks on their team and I think that showed a little bit with the way they were physical. Not that we weren't ready for it and not that we didn't compete, but ultimately that caught up to us at the end."? Next up: Toronto returns to action to face the Denver Nuggets on Monday July 14, while Sacramento faces the Portland Trail Blazers on Tuesday, July 15.</div> <div align="center">Source: NBA.com</div>
Joey Graham ended up with 24 points and 8 rebounds, but also put his personal stamp on the statsheet with 8 personal fouls and 5 turnovers. Hassan Adams had 9 pts, 4 ass, and 3 rebs. The Kings put out legit first round talent while our teams the best of the D-leagues (plus Joey!), so this isn't totally unexpected. Was anybody able to catch the game? The stats don't matter as much as how players performed during the game and got those stats.
Shit, my bad on no GT, I've been really busy. Plus, are they showing the games on TV? Like on TheScore or TSN?
Raptors lost today, 90-79 against the Nuggets. Top scorer was Graham with 16, followed by Adams with 11. Joel Bosh played 4 minutes with no points, and 3 fouls. Jawai still didn't play and the Raptors fall to 0-2. Box Score
Is Daniel related to Patrick? J-Carrol -> Matt Carrol? S. Banks -> Marcus Banks? J. Bosh -> Chris Bosh? J Graham -> guys who pwn summer leagues but suck in the NBA? The Raps have 4 open spots on the roster (Hassan is already signed, as well as Graham obviously) It seems Lucas has been pretty decent so far, with 3 point shooting and passing. Maybe add Akindele because he would be a cheap center? Unless Brezec is better and would sign for min.
