I heard he still has plenty of time to be the youngest player to lead the league in rebounding.

On the Magic broadcast tonight, the announcers kept talking about how he is at the Rodman rebounding level right now and that Dwight averages a rebound every 2 and half minutes. They said that's a crazy stat and that's what Rodman was averaging in his prime. Dwight is only 20 years old so that's pretty amazing. Also, they were saying that he is the best rebounder they have ever seen and that he is climbing up the ranks quickly and could soon join the likes of Bill Russell and Wilt Chamberlain as one of the greatest rebounders ever.

When Dwight goes up for a board, he rips it down. He just turns into a monster and grabs it from anyone. Last night one of the Memphis players got an offensive rebound and Dwight just got all aggressive and tore it out of his hands. I'm so glad that Howard is aggressive because that's really going to help him.

That's what seperates Dwight and Yao on the glass. Dwight is aggressive and athletic while Yao is softer and can't get up as high. Dwight has all the tools (height, athleticism, aggressiveness, desire) to be a great rebounder for many years to come. We are so lucky to have this kid and a lot of us don't realize that.

Dwight is so good because he's lanky, long, and so athletic with his wingspan. I'm glad the Magic got him.

Lanky isn't a word I would use to describe Dwight Howard for sure.

Let's see how Dwight does against Boozer tonight because Boozer is very effective on boxing out.

Boozer is 6'8, Dwight is 6'11. He will just jump over Boozer for the rebounds. That's all he ever does anyway.

Or he'll tip the rebound to himself. That's always fun to see.

Just because he's taller doesn't neccessarily mean he'll jump over him to get the rebounds. Yao Ming and Ben Wallace have faced off and Wallace has destroyed him on the boards.

Dwight has height. Dwight has lift.

Yao has height, but no lift.
Ben has lift, but no height.

They may as well mail Dwight that rebounding award now.

I never said he would get the rebounds because he was taller. I said he would get it because he will jump over them. He jumps over 7 footers to get rebounds.

Have you seen Dwight play? Dwight rarely gets any rebounds by boxing out. He gets his rebounds on pure athleticism alone. He just jumps over people, regardless of the size of that player. When the player is only 6'8 and not have much lift like Boozer, Dwight normally owns those type of players on the glass and he did again last night piling up 16 boards.

Why should they mail it to him? Don't you know who KG is? Have you ever heard of Chris Bosh?? These guys can definitely get boards as much as Dwight can. Howard doesn't get it just yet.

Bosh has never sustained a rebounding average of over 9.2 for an entire season. That is one of the things that he has improved on the most this past off season, but I still question him being able to maintain his 12.4 rpg average for an entire season. KG is probably the biggest threat to Dwight, but honestly I feel like Dwight is just now starting to find his groove on the glass.

There has been 4 20 20 games in the entire NBA so far this season, Dwight has 3 of them. Of course we can't mail the award to Dwight already, but barring an injury, he should be in the drivers seat for this award for the entire season.

It's those 20 rebounding nights that seperate Dwight, IMO. Bosh has been able to rebound quite well, but he isn't able to boost up his averages with nights like that. Howard just seems to get those every couple of weeks.

This isn't really related to the rebounding title, but does anybody know how the NBA counts tips? Do they give the rebound to the person who tipped it or to the person that it is tipped to?

It counts as a team rebound, I think.

But what they were talking about was Dwight tipping it to himself.

So far Dwight has averaged 1 20 rebound night every 5 games. [IMG]

Jesus Christ, kid. Have you ever heard of hyperbole?

Do I really have to dumb down my speech for you to comprehend it?

Hyperbole? It's called the Super Bowl and that's a whole different sport, Chuck. Duh! [IMG]
