Randy Foye would be an upside in scoring but would give us the same liability on defense. We need an all around player. We need that dynamic swingman.
I believe Foye will be a good defender due to his strength but i do not believe in the prolevel he will be a wing when i see him all i see is chauncey billups a pg i don't know but i don't think he is what the rockets need right now. After reading about morrison though i am impressed with his shot it seems its incredibley accurate 46/50 for nba range. He also has improved his quickness, first step and vertical explosion by a lot. I think he is someone the rockets should be interested in even though he is an SF but he has that tenatious heart that makes him great but his poor defensive results may effect JVG
There are 4 dynamic swingmen I see available that should be the only options for the Rockets Unless a trade is made and a solid 2 is acquired. Gay Carney Roby Ager all are quick athletic explosive long perimeter defenders. I agree that Foye and L.Head are the too similar to have both and the other 6'3 and under crowd is the problem the Rockets have had in the backcourt. Ronnie Brewer, I like but just do not think he has the explosiveness the team needs. I could be wrong.

I didnt comment much on his talent before, but i recently watched Colorado film and he is easily the best player on that team, but he wil not be a star and is a liability on defense. I understand that he might be a nice role player but not as dynamic as Ronny Brewer, Carney and comes no where near Rudy Gay. Roby is easily better than Ager. Brewer isnt explosive, but he is the most complete swingman after Gay.
Minnesota Timberwolves said that if they have a chance to get Rudy Gay, they are going to get him. So guys, we really don't have a chance to get Gay unless Timberwolves get a chance to get Roy or Morrison. I hope we trade up or something to get a chance to get Morrison, Roy, or Gay

Point on Roby who may still go back to college. "I understand that he might be a nice role player" Aint that what the Rockets are looking for. He ain't the best fit, but look at the SG and SF available. He was the only scorer on that Colorado team. Look at Carney and Gay's teams they were stacked. Now if you want to go defense, it was Shawne Williams who defended A.Morrisson well in the 4th quarter after Morrison torched Carney for three quarters. I don't know why I keep forgetting about him. I think the explosive thing is very important. Not having a guy other than TMac on the perimeter that can fly has been a major weakness. Carney is the front runner because he is the fit as a possible starting 2 athletiscism and shot, and if he is available no doubt the Rockets take him. If you go way back he was my guy, until I started getting the feeling somebody would grab him at a higher pick.
Brewer can do everything you said that we need and hes better than Roby and more explosive. The role players that we need can't be the role players on teams like San Antonio, Detroit, or Miami. Their role players don't have a huge burden put on them because if they score at least 10 points in a game, they have done their part and should be satisfied because the other 4 leaders on the team will score the rest. The rockets only have 2 of those leaders and are in desperate need of a 3rd, 4rth, and fifth. Brewer, Gay, and Carney are all the best players on teams that were ranked really high. Brewers team was ranked 8th in the tournament with a shitty team. He carried the team. WE need a guy who can not only be a leader, but can also be consistent and those 3 excluding Carney are. Roby has shown that he isn't based on his workouts which have dropped his stock in some mocks into the second round. If we get him in the second round, I'll be fine but he isn't worth our first at all. Roby won't be a third or fourth option either because his game is not as well as brewers, carneys, or gays.
Yeah I agree^^^ Brewer's speed and skill makes up for the athletic comparison's to the others. Wing players Gay Carney Roy Brewer Ager S.Williams S.Brown If Carney and R.Gay are gone is Brewer overwhelming choice above the others If the roster isn't changed
That was just a random listed of the wing players that might go in the 1st round, Thinking that the Rockets could move down with a trade, but they still need an athletic perimeter player, especially if the guy they want aint there. Deshawn Stevenson has shown interest in coming to the Rockets, and Orlando wants to jump a couple spots. A sign and trade would help so the MLE is still intact, and he would be the best perimeter defender. That could free them too move down and get a guy like Shawne Williams or even J.J. to come off the bench. How much confidence is there in Stro Howard and Hayes if he's signed. Would the best big availble be a major consideration Really the Rockets need to add two good perimeter guys this offseason. There is a lot of improvement that can be done from the fillers last year.
umm the T-Wolves could take Thomas and we get Gay and roby is likely to fall with less than impressing workouts to us in the second round so he's be a nice second round pick.
If Roby is everything moe says he is than he could be a solid second round pickup because that pick is up for grabs. The only names I'm hearing from that pick are the following: Pj tucker steve novak pittsnogle Darius Washington Jr. Allen Ray and now Roby Out of those 6 I'd pick Pj tucker or Pittsnogle. Maybe Washington. Tucker because he can rebound(9.2) and attack the rim extremely well. Pittsnogle because he has a nice post game as a PF and can shoot the three extremely well. Washington because he is a good floor general, but needs help on athletisism. The chances of us landind gay are good, but 2-3 teams stand in our way. Charlotte-rumored to be debating whether to take Morrison or Gay. If aldrdige is available, they won't hesitate. Portland- They would take Gay, but I don't see them as a huge threat because they have other needs and I feel that 1 of the big 3 PFs will fall to them. Minnesota- They can use Gay, but they have been showing interested in Patrick Bradley, Tyrus Thomas, Brandon Roy, Randy Foye, and Marcus Williams. They can draft any of those guys. Houston getting Rudy Gay is all based on if Minny passes him up and I feel like they will because they need to get KG happy and back in the playoffs. Gay needs to be the second option on that team and he won't thrive in that scenerio until his 2nd or 3rd year. The Rockets would be an amazing fit, because a huge burden is lifted off him and all we ask of him is at least 10 pts a night and some solid D.
I have said in the past that I think Aldridge Thomas Gay Morrison Carney M.Williams S.Williams will be off the board sub The Italian for whoever and take a guess who drops down a spot. I see those as the top talents. As far as what number, I think trades will happen and teams bid for one of those guys. I do agree Brewer will probably be the best wing available. If he truly can run the O in the NBA, he would be a great addition. Same with Shawne Williams at SF. As far as the other wings I listed, there was a lot of non shooters, non stars, non playmakers. On that second tier of talent, that is short this year, Ther was not many prospects I saw that looked like they could make a difference. The difference in Roby's game from this year, and if he goes back to school and comes out in a year is the Strength that is his weakness right now, that helps on both ends. I say he is a Cuttino Mobley type at the 2. 6-6 athletic and that shooting touch goes a long way. His shooting percentage isn't jaw dropping but sufficient for the amount of shots and attention he got. Thats why I asked do you think the Rockets would get the best big available. With 4 big guys on the roster, Chuck Hayes and that big guy thats playing in the other league, would they take that 7 footer available. Or Ced Simmons who I read has impressed.
One thing i really don't get is why people think we are at all going to draft reddick in the first round. Many players like him in the past aka landon has the same game but has not succeeded in the nba. I think that teams will see that and not draft him i think we will be able to get him with our second roudn pick if we are lucky enough that many teams do think that he cannot get his shot off in the nba. reason i think he may slip is because i don't see tha tmuch difference in him last year and the year before besides the development of a mid ranged shot that he may never be able to get off in the nba.

We won't draft redick with our first pick because we have learned 2-3 times that a 6-4 gaurd that can't drive the ball is not what this team needs. We need a second guy to create his own shot. That player could be Rudy Gay, Rodney Carney, or Ronnie Brewer. The rumor has gone around the Redick could be who the Rockets want because he could thrive in our system but our system also requires a josh Howard type player. That play could be Carney, Gay, or Brewer, but not Redick. The second thing you said about him falling to the second round is 100% not gonna happen. Teams in the playoffs love to have sepcialists on their team because they allready have their cores.
Well if people do thing he is too short to get his shot of then their may be the slighest chance but probably not. Right now i am hoping Gay or the AB falls to us by fluke
Rockets have an interest in Shelden Wiliams Source: http://www.nba.com/rockets/news/Rocketscom...181162-468.html
