Hmmm.... I thought he picked Milwaukee after LMA had made it clear he wasn't returning. I think Neil was approaching it as a replacement for LMA, but Monroe wanted nothing to do with it.

edit - I guess Monroe picked Milwaukee on 7/2 and Aldridge committed to San Antonio on 7/4, but hadn't he essentially ruled us out before that?

It's possible we are both right, but technically you are: Because I think Olshey knew at some level that LMC was leaving. So, probably Olshey wanted Monroe first to try to keep LMC, and second to replace him.

Either way, once LMC was gone, Monroe wasn't interested in replacing him.

    Maybe now he'd reconsider?

Maybe now Olshey would too, LOL.

Tobias Harris may be on the block, 23 yr old forward with 3 more yrs after this near 15.5 mil per, his stats are down from his contract yr last year and I'm not impressed and have not watched him at all, I would not give up that much

Not a good sign that they're looking to move him less than a year into his contract.

Well, they need to do something. They're currently 11th in the east and all that young talent simply isn't translating into wins.

He may be having a rough year in Orlando, but I think he'd be a perfect fit as a third option here.

    @ PF?

    It's intriguing.

PF, or SF. He's certainly got a more complete offensive skill-set than Aminu. Don't know what it'd take to get him, though.

Amazing that they can't figure out a way to make that group work. Payton/Oladipo/Fournier/Harris/Gordon/Vucevic sounds like a great young core. Balanced group, and Vucevic is the oldest of the bunch at 25. Plus they have Hezonia and Napier who both seem to have potential as well, in addition to being on track to get another lottery pick this year. Maybe I'm missing something, but if I were them, Harris wouldn't be going anywhere until they were certain it couldn't work with him and Gordon at the forward spots. Deal Channing Frye to a contender who can give you another asset--maybe a tough defensive PF/C--and keep building.

Aminu is actually a much better three point shooter.

Sure, and he probably jumps higher and is a better shot-blocker too. But Harris is better offensively inside the arc (and overall), is younger, a better decision-maker, a better passer, and is simply bigger and more able to play the 4.

I would have liked him last summer but not at the price he went for. Now he is owed the remainder of his $64M deal. He's having a decent season but it's amazing how little $15M/Yr guys anymore.

He would be a nice piece but where does he fit? He's kind of that 'tweener' SF/PF and we already have 2 of those.

Remember, with the coming cap increase, $15M in 2 years will be comparable to $10M now.

Sure we do, but neither compares to Harris in terms of overall ability. With the team as currently constructed, I'd start him over Vonleh at 4, and slide Vonleh to the backup 4 alongside Davis (with Leonard hopefully in Orlando as part of the trade).

Yes of course the Cap is going up. It was just a general observation and a disappointing reflection on my parents lack of height DNA contributions. :breakdance:

I agree that Harris has more ability but I'm still not a huge fan of him at the '4'. He would make a nice contrast to Vonleh as Noah develops though. Part of the reason I'm not a fan of him at the '4' is that Stotts likes to play so small most of the time as it is.

Harris would be a solid get if it didn't cost any of CJ, Vonleh, Aminu, Plumlee, Crabbe, or Hendo (yes I believe Hendo can help get us a better player than Harris, if not I'm not opposed to keeping him).

I think small forward is the position of need, or a REALLY good power forward. Harris is good, but not great. I guess it just depends on the cost.

It still depends greatly on the goals of the team. Are we trying to make the playoffs or are we biding our time and letting the team gel? If we're making a push for the playoffs, I wouldn't be opposed to trading for a veteran forward who can score.

I wonder if New York would do Melo for CJ/Leonard/Kaman, and then try to acquire Collison from Sac to be the backup point.

    Dame
    Crabbe
    Melo
    Vonleh
    Plumlee

    With

    Collison
    Hendo
    Aminu
    Harkless
    Davis

    Off the bench.

CJ for Melo?? That seriously under values CJ. Guy is third year and probably on par with that dunce.
