DAMN, time flies. I remember when he was a big surprise in the 2003 Dallas series.

Monroe isn't a good passer? Do you watch basketball?

Ok so mark them both a "yes" for that one. Horford is still better all around. Monroe is really only better at manufacturing points 1 on 1 in the post.

I'd be curious to see what it would take to pry Horford away should they decide to shop him. I think he'd be a good fit in Stotts's offense. He can shoot, pass, move, and occasionally post up.

The main reason I prefer him to Horford. Well that and age. You'd be getting Monroe's prime years.

I also would love to have an offensive rebounder like Monroe.

Things could get a lot more interesting with Marc Gasol's broken foot - does Mem blow it up? and Jimmy Butler is out a month so do they trade guys like Pau and Taj? Pau or Taj would be "fun" to go after for a run THIS year if we could get one of them for Meyers and capspace

I hear you. I want a post scorer too. I'm just not convinced that Monroe would be a net positive for the team. He's not helping Milwaukee, although I think a big part of their problem is their coach. Good point on the age thing. I didn't realize Horford was 29. I thought he was 27 for some reason. Anyway, I still think he's got a few good years left and would make us a better team during Lillard's prime. He looks like the perfect big for our offense. Getting Monroe in his prime is nice, but what if his prime is spent not making our team any better?

Barf. $33M for a 35 year old? No thanks. He's not gonna be the guy that puts us in championship contention.

Al Horford will be 30 next summer...not sure where you get the 35 year old from. He's 29 right now

    Read the post I quoted.

Also, is it just me or does it seem like Horford should be a lot older than he is? He's a good player, for sure. But at this point in our development I wouldn't trade anything of worth for him

And the same sentiment applies to the first year of his contract: ~$30M for a 30 year old!?! Fuck that!

    Lebron...32
    Horford 29
    Durant 28
    Aldridge 30
    Chris Paul 31
    Melo 32
    Love 28
I think we're confusing the prime years of max players ...All these geriatric players have or will have max deals that carry into their low to mid 30s

The only guys on that list that deserve max contracts at that age are Durant and LBJ. I wouldn't pay ANY of the other guys anywhere near $30M in their 30s.

I would certainly sign Horford given the opportunity, he'd be great for us. However, I don't even think Neil could convince a guy was born in the Dominican Republic, went to school in sunny Florida, and played his entire pro career in Atlanta, to magically decided that he wants to play with a bunch of young guys in Rainy middle-of-nowhere Oregon.

I'm NOT saying PDX is an undesirable FA home, but some like it hot, and I would imagine Al Horford being one of those people.

The time these guys spend in Portland outside of basketball is really overrated...they still own homes in the warmer climates and travel all year..when they get a day off, they're going to sleep or hang out in a house anyway.

Portland in the offseason has frickin' awesome weather...when it's 110 degrees in Los Angeles...Portland looks awfully good in the summer

If he wants to come to Portland he can sign here in the offseason. Why give up Allen Crabbe for 3 months of Horford? It's not like we're ready to strike for a championship.

Yeah but the hairy, smelly, Birkenstock wearing broads of Portland can't compare to Nicki Minaj body typed gals in LA
