We're playing with house money...14mil has to be spent or distributed amongst the current roster so it makes sense we're absorbing at least that much...maybe with a 3 team deal that moves a guy like Kaman and a young project player or draft pick.

Has Ben ever looked good enough to have a revival? I know he has a lot of potential so I understand taking a gamble on him especially if Neil feels we will lose Hendo, but I just have not seen much out of McLemore. At least not against the Blazers.

Even then, WCS and Cousins can play PF.

Contract absorption is our biggest asset.

Pending a physical, Ryan Anderson would be a huge acquisition.

Perfect contrast to Vonleh and has a skillset to mesh in immediately with this system.

The price would likely include taking on Asik.

If that means getting Anderson for no assets do you take on Asik's anchor of a contract?

The Blazers should get someone that's good at jamming it with speed 99.

Is Asik really bad now? I remember when we wanted him to be our starting center.

He's paid $10m/per and he looks like late-career Przybilla.

He just signed last summer. One of the more ugly contracts in the NBA

Yeah if we can trade Kaman. That'd leave $17M in cap space to buyout Asik. Buy him out for less than that and we lose no money off our cap space this summer.

What would be your rotation though?

    Anderson (28) / Vonleh (13) / Meyers (7)
    Plumlee (20) / Davis (20) / Meyers (8)

    ???

I would be shocked to see that happen since I have heard quite a few teams would love to get Ryan Anderson. The Clippers being a likely candidate. So I think New Orleans will get an asset back. I was never a Asik fan like some of you were a couple of years ago, but I think he is one of those guys that could fill that rim protector role portion of our center by committee, for a salary that will be reasonable after the cap goes up. (10-11 per)

Once Asik got paid, he just never seemed to get any better...sort of like Turkoglu...I'd rather bring back Joel Freeland than sign Asik.

There are a lot of teams looking to make deals and a number of teams with multiple Draft picks....no way Philly and Boston use all 7 1st round picks. As for Portland, Henderson has been playing so much better but he's not going to resign here to be a 4th guard when there is so much money out there this summer. Now if all you can get for him is a 2nd round pick, just let it play out and see how well this team can play down the stretch.

If Kaman would like to go to a contender and there is an offer for him, I'd let him go. He'd been a great solider and mentor but his career is winding down and he doesn't have many chances yet to contend for a title.

Hell no. Is this a joke? Anderson is a free agent this summer but Asik would screw up our cap for 5 years.

I don't think you understand how buyouts work.

Its spread over the life of the contract. Even if we buy out Asik its spread out over the 4 more years of his contract; or 9 years if we use the stretch provision. I don't want the Blazers stuck with an Asik cap hit until 2025!

They are not going to re-sign Anderson, so it would be a wet dream for them to have someone take Asik off their hands just to get Anderson. If they don't want Asik, they can stretch him, too, but Stretching is a cost.

I've read that you can allocate the money to certain years
