Im the dumbest cop! Tonight at the Blazer game, I was really thirsty and went to get water, I walked around for like 10 minutes found the “cheapest” bottled water at some stand and spent 6 bucks for a 20 ounce water. When I got back to my seat one of the guys I was with told me he just used the drinking fountain.
I bought stupid expensive water and wasted 10 minutes all because I was too stupid to think oh I can use a water fountain...

You didn't listen to the rest of his story though: When I got back to my seat one of the guys I was with told me he just used the drinking fountain because the line for the urinals was too long.

I did something insanely embarrassing a few weeks ago. Was volunteering to help give out toys to poor kids with my wife and they bought 100 little plastic snow globes that you make yourself.

They come assembled with instructions inside. They asked me to disassemble them before the kids got there. You unscrew a lid and they have a plastic base/seal insert in them. The inserts look very similar to how chevy belt mouldings are shipped.

I mindlessly jabbed a hole in a couple of the seals like I would open the chevy part and the old woman that was helping me had to tell me that I had to save that part. I felt like a complete moron.

The part that saved my night was that once I thought about how to open them without poking a hole in them I figured out the easiest way.

Still.....I would have ruined all of them if she wasn't there.

Today we were handing out presents to kids with cancer and they had more snow globes. This time I saved the day. The girls that were doing it before I showed up said "oh you are so smart"

Then I told them about last time. Oh well

That's a good question Maris. Mods should probably hold themselves to a higher standard. Still we are human. We err. If any of us really abused our power, Sly would fire us or start a thread to have us voted out. Forum conscience. Doesn't seem like this is a case of that.

Cup was suspended/banned for continuous use of insults on top of his trolling via making copies of a thread that was closed. He was warned and failed to heed that warning. Sly thought fit to give him a break from the forum. I agree with action.

There is no emotion in my acts as a moderactor. I go by the rules and only the rules. I don't fuck around. I haven't seen any other mod use emotions in their decisions as mods. Sure, we can be emotional in our posts as members. But, I know I can keep both seperate. I believe the same for the other moderators.

How about 30 days of not complaining about modding. It isn't an easy job, especially for free. We do our best even if may not seem it.

Today was really difficult. These poor kids. I was reading the lists of the kids and what presents they wanted and thought all the kids getting presents had cancer.

Then I saw that some of the kids were getting presents because their siblings had died of cancer.

My wife's boss had a tumor in his cheek when he was 29. Stage 3. He's mid 40s now.

His wife gave a speech and he got emotional and made me go with him to get a drink. We're sitting at the bar talking about my grandfather wasting away from cancer and my aunt dying from it and tearing up like babies.

It fucking sucked. The kids looked super happy so it was worth it. They got good shit. Tons of bikes although that pissed me off. What a bunch of cheap crap. Plastic brake handles and chintzy looking frames. Just junk. If I had millions I'd start a charity and refurbish old bikes if I could find them.

If you have fat kids buy them an older bike.

Oh, I'm still here, ...calling 'em like I see 'em.

barfo, IMO, is the funniest MoFo on this forum and I very seldom disagree with his views but it's bound to happen every now and then.

    =========================================================================

President Trump prodded staffers for details about US military aid to Ukraine five weeks before his July 25 phone call with President Volodymyr Zelensky, a heavily redacted batch of internal administration documents reveal.

Emails sent between officials at the Pentagon and the Office of Management and Budget show that the hold on the aid was placed just hours after the two leaders spoke.

Michael Duffey of the OMB told the Pentagon to freeze the payments “in light of the Administration’s plan to review assistance to Ukraine.”

Democrats said the documents, posted online by the Center for Public Integrity late Friday, proved Trump’s “direct involvement” in the Ukraine matter.

“Frankly it’s just the 77th piece of evidence confirming the same thing,” Sen. Chris Murphy (D-Conn.) tweeted Saturday.

That is a fabrication chris as i only made ONE post in the thread before it was locked where as jonnyboy made several. I started another thread that fez started which violated NO RULE and sly locked it with a smart ass reply of demonstrating his consistency by locking it. I felt he was sarcastically joking and started another one that didn't violate ANY rule and then was banned for a week. There was NEVER any warnings given and there have been much worse offenses before and after mine that no one was banned or posts deleted or locked. Now jonnyboy is trollling by acting like he is some sort of left wing extremist. That's the inconsisteny i have mentioned.

    ^^^Welcome back, Cup.

Not gonna try and pass judgment or take sides on what happened because to be honest, I don't know the details.

Morning Cup, hope your week went well. I think there is a common theme that “mods” are inconsistent and there may be some truth to that. I think as individuals were fairly consistent yes we have bad days and good days like the rest of you. Many of the posted rules are somewhat subjective and each mod interprets them differently. This could and maybe should be something that we take a look at to determine ways we can make it clearer and take some of the subjectiveness out of the rules.
An analogy to me is there are a lot of subjective calls in the NBA the refs are left to call the action based on how they saw things at times. We can never take subjectivity out but maybe there should be an attempt to make it clearer.

As far as your situation last week Im not totally sure what to tell you. I wasn't really involved in that.
So far Ive read 4-5 different posters claim inconsistency by moderators and while sometimes I dont agree with the argument, I can see why people would feel that way.

I think one of the issues is that people think that the mods will see every post and are always there to edit immediately. We (they) aren't.

I make a point of not editing posts, because I'm not assigned the Blazers board and don't want to be. So unless I see something incredibly obvious (someone reports it, or it's a link from a spammer), I tend to let the mods assigned to this page do something about it. And in a lot of cases, something happens, and IF it gets reported, people act as though the mods should be responding right away.

That's not realistic. We, like the everyone else, work during the day. But some people here work in front of a computer and can sneak more time into their day posting. Others don't work in front of a computer and really don't get the chance to access s2 (even via their phone).

Being a mod/global etc, doesn't mean we're can't get in heated discussions, or disagreements or "arguments" with other posters.

I think people wrongly assume that we're slanted towards one side over the other. We're not. But the people who report posts mostly tend to be the same people, who aren't necessarily being altruistic about the overall well being/enforcement of the rules of the forum.

My week alweays goes well as this forum does not determine how well my weeks go. What ever I did, it was no where near worthy of a week ban and despite what Chris posted, there was NO warning ever made to me and now I see bodyman all over this forum over the past week whining and crying about shit and some threats of banning him, but NOTHING. fez had his post locked because jonnyboy came in and insulting people right and left and it was locked with the explanation that it was started to instigate something. Even Chris commented that majority of posts in the OT section are started to instigate yet they don't get locked. It should have been handled by jonnyboy's posts being deleted and the thread allowed to go on, That's the shit I don't like and a big reason why I post less and less in this forum.

Total baby post. Come on a message board with a lil b!#/÷ (post) and cry and complain about the moderating in a post.

Your post is ridiculous. The mods try and try and try to be fair and then posts like yours come in here after a well deserved BAN (your post will always have the stain of a ban on it) and start stirring up shit again.

Your post is just to tedious and petty and embarassing.

Your posts need to show a little R-E-S-P-T-T-D amirite?

Welcome back Cup. You were part of that thread getting out of hand, even if it was just that one post, which was an insult. You then kept recreating a thread that was locked, therefore you were banned temporarily (suspended).

If Sly or any of us mods lock a thread, we are not being sarcastic. We do not lock threads for fun. It got out of hand, we ended it. Period.

    No.

You made one thread complaining about the first thread being locked.

Which is fine. No problem with that.

Then when you didn't like the replies you remade the thread that was locked.

    That one got locked.

Then you made a 2nd thread.

That one got locked too and you got a lovely break from the forum.
