When I looked back, the addition of Iggy will lock golden state in the top 5. I think we fight Memphis for the 5th spot.
yeah..and he has done nothing to piss off other GMs, (and yeah I believe a fan base that could turn a GM into a cult hero, could have had somthing to do with his demise)....Pritchslapped, indeed..
We have a lot of long range shooters between Lillard, CJ. Crabbe, Wes, Batum, and Wright. I would like to see one more PG who can penetrate to go along with those 3 pt shooters.
Yep he did nothing to undermine the purpose of his trading partners. He allowed two teams to get their man too. Will this be enough to keep Aldridge? I think if we can make it past the first round, Aldridge will stay.
I don't believe we have the cap space to get anyone over 2.5 mil; because wright got 6 mil; 3 mil per average. Unless we are going for a trade using Matthews; we can't get anyone significant. What I do know is with the line-up we have now; we have a bench to cut down batum and Wes's minutes down by 10. That's gonna be huge to help them with conditioning and health:
BLAZERS ROSTER Point guard: Damian Lillard; CJ McCollum Shooting guard: Wesley Matthews, Will Barton, Allen Crabbe, Terrel Harris Small forward: Nicolas Batum, Dorell Wright, Victor Claver Power forward: LaMarcus Aldridge, Thomas Robinson Center: Robin Lopez, Meyers Leonard, Joel Freeland
Looks like he'll be nice coming off the bench when we need some instant offense. I support this signing.
Terrel Harris is going to be cut any minute now. He won't make it to training camp. Definitely need a 3rd PG.
I actually love it! I'm still hoping we can use freeland to get 2nd rounders and cap space. I just don't know which team would accept it. With an additional 3 mil from freeland; we would have around 4 mil to offer another player.
There is usually one PG in summer league that plays well that is not under contract. or Udrih for the exception? Not a great defender but he is a solid passer.
I would think that alone would improve our defense pretty significantly too. We shouldn't have anyone playing more than 34 mpg IMO.
Matthews and batum's numbers became less efficient in the later part of the season. I know some of it was the injuries, but I actually think fatigue really hurt us. Just those two players cutting back to 30-35 a game could be a big improvement. Also, the scoring load won't be on them to score as much as last year. Matthews lowering his scoring, but stepping up his d is actually better for us. Batum can just be assigned to be that triple double machine.
But will we play any defense? With all the talk of how much we are going to be running I hope that doesn't mean a run and gun type team that doesn't play defense and just tries to out score opponents. I want to see good D and run when we can, but have a good half court game too. Wright mention talking to Olshey it reminded him of playing with Golden State and all the running they did. Did they play any D?
Can't run if you can't get the ball. Yes, you can run on makes but you can't be a true running team without forcing turnovers.
Jason Quick @jwquick One of the factors for Dorell Wright in choosing the Blazers: Wright's 5-year-old son is a huge Oregon Ducks fan who loves DeAnthony Thomas I don't see any NBA players interested in Beaver players, lol.
