Also what about Aaron Williams and Eric Williams do their contracts expire or do we have them for more years?

I think Aaron's contract is done after this season. I don't see him staying with the team, since I don't think he'll do much of anything anyway. I'd love to bring back Omar Cook. Even though Rafer, Palacio (whos a free agent) are pretty good point guards, I'd love to see this guy back with the team, at least until we see what he's fully capable of. I don't think we'll strike it big by landing anyone big in the offseason (like we do almost every season), but I hope we'll draft someone half decent in the draft, or trade one of the picks with a few bums on the team *cough* Lamond *cough* for a decent big man.

These are my guys that i'd be interested in pursuing in offseason

Jon Barry- A great vet who can be effective as a starter and coming off the bench can really help team chemistry.

Earl Watson- A dazzling point, who is always a pass first type of player. and he is a great bench player with some great a$$ efficiency.

to try and really push, basically improbable possibilities. bobby simmons-stromile swift-Toni Kukoc-Dalembert-Damon Stoudamire-bobby jackson-Jerome james-Ha Seung-Jin and many more...[IMG] what do u guys think??

Barry: Would be nice, but it would be pointless because he'll be riding our bench, and I don't see him coming here
Watson: Probably will get more than the MLE
    Stoudamire: Not happening
    Jackson: Unlikely
    Dalembert: Defintely not happening
Jerome James: Possibly, I have questions about him though, don't won't to overpay him like his last/current contract
    Ha Seung-Jin: No.

If the Raps do draft a PG (e.g. Jack/Felton), than I say we let Milt go (sadly) and re-sign Omar Cook.

Let Marshall go, sign Bonner, don't overpay though.

Negotiate a buyout with Lamond Murray

Trade Eric Williams on draft day to a team who will give him PT and likes defensive SF's (Houston, Detroit). I don't care what we get, he's a cancer.

    My hopeful 2005-2006 Roster:

    PG: Jack/Alston/Cook
SG: Green/Peterson/Julis Hodge ... Possibly Luther Head but we need to draft some big
    SF: Rose/Ryan Gomes
    PF: Bosh/Bonner/A-Train
    -C: Sow/Hoffa/Woods

We have to try trade some players in our roster like
    Murry
    E.Williams
    A.Williams

Except Marshall and Palacio that finish their contact this summer.

The following players that I have highlighted in bold are the ones that I think would be a great fit for Toronto. I didn't highlight the Ray Allens' and the Antoine Walkers' because that's just too unrealistic.

The raptors don't have too much spending money this offseason either so signing one of these players will probably take our cap to the max. I guess we'll depend on our draft this season.

Some players that I would like to see in Raptors uniform and wouldn't be terrible to invest a little in are:

    Unrestricted

    Brevin Knight
    Kareem Rush
    Allen Henderson
    Eddie House
    Raja Bell
    Michael Ruffin
    Howard Eisley

    Restricted
    Dan Gadzuric
    Keith Bogans

Kwame Brown is a restricted FA he's someone that catches my eye. The guy clearly has an attitude problem but he cleary has potential. He is only 23 and if he came ready to play night night out he could be a big help in the raptors front court. Conversly, he also could end up being a cancer/bust and perhaps derail the development of our youngsters.

Scoop Jackson wrote an interesting article on Brown after his suspension, it gave me a different perspective on the guy. Kwame: Found and Lost

Wow that article lost me a lot of respect for MJ, Kwame would be a gamble that could pay off huge

Now that I look at it, Kwame Brown does seem to have tons of potential. But then again, the last time I've seen him playing well was long ago. With the right coaching staff and support though, he can be a major threat in the east. Another thing is that if we do sign him, we will go way above the cap and even if we do use the MLSE rule, we will be paying maybe 10 million extra in luxury tax because of our early signing of Rafer Alston.

I really hope we can sign Kwame to a contract and see how it deals out. This move will also improve our depth chart by tons.

Kwame could be a good fit for our team if he plays centre but i'm concerned about his attitude after he got suspended for the rest of the playoffs. then again, people can change

Well then, Tractor Traylor is a fa! isn't he?? maybe we should try him out, and see, i know he wouldn't wont a lot of money, but he can make an impact, and he can be consistent. it would be a nice thing to get him, but we would have to trade and deal other players like aaron and eric, if possible along with lammond. woods-maybe. but i'd really like to give the tractor a try because he really hasnt had his true oppurtunity to shine, after his rook season he just became scraps on teams and i'd really like to see it happen.

    C-Tractor/Pape/Hoffa/Woods?/aarron?
    PF-Bosh/Bonner/Pape
    SF-Jalen/Draft pick?/lammond?/eric?
    Sg-Mopete/Draft pick?
    PG-Rafer/draftpick?/omarcook?/alvinwilliams

I put question marks cuz i wonder if they'll be in a raps uni come next season.

Speaking of free agents.. Anybody remember Maceo Baston? I really liked his game and would be happy if Babcock decides to sign him.. he's playing in Barcelona right now.

-First priority: Resign Bonner and Sow
-Second priority: Figure out if Jay Williams will be worthy to pick up / same goes to Omar Cook

^ Yeah, I've been hearing his name a lot lately (well not a lot, just more than usual). Chuck mentioned that he would like to see him play in their summer league team and invited to training camp.

    PG:Alston-Ukic-Cook
    SG:Webster/Green-Alvin Williams-58 pick
    SF:Rose-Peterson-
PF:Bosh-Bonner-Turiaf (if he slips to 38)
    -C:Pape-Hoffa-Turiaf-Woods

*Assuming Granger is off the board at 6

I'm hopeful that's how our roster would look heading into training camp. I could care less about what happens to Eric and Aaron Williams.

Our team's about 6 mill over the cap so that automatically eliminates most of the players you guys have been talking about: Earl Watson, Kwame Brown, Ronald Murray, Brevin Knight, etc. Unless we do a sign and trade which is highly unlikely.

We should let Milt and Donyell go, and resign Bonner and Pape for a reasonable amount of money.

After that we have needs at C and we could use another point guard. Using our midlevel exception we could go after cheap undervalued players like Chris Duhon from Chicago. I'm really in favour of signing either Dan Gadzuric or Zaza Pachulia to help our frontcourt, because we can't start Woods or Hoffa at this point.

Also, I heard that under the new cap there is a luxury cap amnesty for one year that allows a team to buy out a contract without that contract counting against our cap. I think this is a valuable oppurtunity to get rid of some of the huge contracts that have stopped us from rebuilding. One of: Lammond Murray, Aaron Williams, Jalen Rose, Alvin Williams (if he can't play) should be bought out.

There is a luxury cap amnesty, but the player's salary still does count against our cap. It only helps to reduce the amount of luxury tax a team has to pay. I don't think buying out JR or Alvin Williams would be a smart move, because Rose only has 2 years left on his contract and it's not like he's a Penny Hardaway who doesn't do jackshit for his money's worth. As for Lamond Murray / Aaron Williams / Eric Williams / Loren Woods, yes we should first look for a trade opportunity (their contracts in total are worth about $15 million and will come off the book after next season) and if there isn't one, we should buy them out. As for the point guard, I like Omar Cook more than Chris Duhon.

In that case I think we should keep them because they are still productive players. However, I still think the Raps should buy out Lammond Murray who hasn't produced and doesn't want to be here. We need that empty roster space.

I don't think Omar Cook can compare to Chris Duhon. Duhon is younger, has a jumpshot and can distribute the ball just as good. If I had the chance to land Duhon I'd go for it. However, point guard shouldn't be the focus for free agency. We need another Center.
