Different subject, I know it seems like a pipedream but I think we would have an actual chance at getting Jimmy Butler in a sign and trade. I think he wants out of Chicago, some Bulls fans on S2 were talking about how Woj said he didn't want to return to Chicago. I think they'll want to get something out of him because he'll walk as soon as possible. 3 things that could make it possible. 1. Butler views Wesley as a mentor, and they both played for Marquette.. He was also hanging out with Aldridge recently. 2. He'd be the missing piece that would make us a legitimate contender. There's been talk about him and the Lakers, but he's a humble guy from what I've heard, and playing with good friends in Wes and (maybe?) Aldridge while contending would be a great situation for him. 3. We have the pieces for a sign and trade. Ideally we would convince Afflalo to opt in with the gauruntee of a trade if he wants. Chicago for the longest time hasn't had 2 legitimate wings. Afflalo didn't play well here but I think he has more value across the league then we realize. Plus him and Batum would be a good fit for that roster and Hoiberg. Getting those 2 would require them dumping Taj but they're trying to do that anyways. If Butler is really going to leave I think Batum, Afflalo and filler is enticing for them to create a balanced starting lineup. They may ask for Leonard as a future replacement for Noah (if his knees fail) or Pau, and I'd be willing to do that Most of you will probably call me crazy, but I think we can convince him to come here and convince Chicago to sign and trade him. Batum, Afflalo, Leonard and a 2018 1st round pick for Butler, Gibson, and Snell would be something the Bulls would at least have to look hard at. And We'd still have our MLE to sign another free agent (Gerald Green?) Lillard/Wright/Frazier Matthews/McCollum/Crabbe Butler/Green/Snell Aldridge/Gibson/Freeland Lopez/Kaman/O'Neal
I've mentioned him before and depending which route we go with LMA and Wes I think Rodney Stuckey is a good PG/SG option at 6'5" and 29 yrs old, he quietly had a very good season for Indy last yr and is a UFA this summer
Completely agree. I would love to see him come in and be a backup PG/SG playing with both Wes and Dame.
No thanks on stuckey.... Why the Heck would we want him? Anytime he is on the court most likely means Cj is off of it. We need a backup Pg, not another combo guard
lets see he plays the "PG" position pretty darn well and with his size would be a good fit with either CJ or Dame - what's your problem with that?
CJ still hasn't done enough to warrant playing time. He may get there this year, but that isn't a reason not to bring in a good vet.
CJ is deserving of at least 20 min a game. If he isn't playing well then his minutes will go down and Wesley's (or whoever the starting SG is) will go up. We need a PG to play 12 min a game and fit next to CJ, while using more resources for other needs
How do you figure? Based on his behaviors in the last 15 games and what he showed in the playoffs, I don't see it the same way. Especially with a team who has shown they lack scoring at times from the bench. Finally, You're still trying to develop him. You're not going to do that keeping him on the bench. In the end, He's a solid rotational player.
