How cool is Duncan to restructure his contract for less money. While many superstars at his level and experience are making around 20 million per year, Duncan makes half of that, less than Parker and much less than Ginobli. Would have love to had Duncan as a Blazer for his entire career.
"1 will win scoring titles and the other will win championships" - K. Pritchard. Well, so far at least half of his prophesy is true.
Was thinking about this recently--remember the rumor that SA offered us Duncan for the #1 pick before the 2007 draft? Where would we be right now if we had done that?
When have Kobe or Lebron won a championship without another star playing next to them? How many championships did Jordan win without Pippen? Durant was asked to do too much on a team that was relying heavily on Derek Fucking Fisher, and he ran out of gas. I think fans are being a little hard on Durant.
I had flash backs to Lebron with the Cavs where he looked frustrated by the end of a losing series. When the whole opposing team is pretty much focused on stopping just you, they usually are successful in a 7 game series.
I'd love to feel bad for OKC, but I don't. Perhaps if they wouldn't have ripped a team away from a community that supported them for 40 years, perhaps if their fans wouldn't have mocked us by saying that "injuries are part of the game" they may get a bit of sympathy from me. Thuck the Funder. They were exposed. BTW, do they miss Harden now?
Absolutely agree. (Except for the I'd love to feel bad" part, actually I'm happy to feel good about it.) I have nothing but animosity for Bennett and his hillbilly fan base. Fuck them. I'm very excited by the bad moves OKC has made and I hope they continue to spiral into irrelevance.
I agree, would MIA be a sure thing if Wade was out? I doubt very many NBA teams could lose thier 2nd best player (or 1st) and still be the same dominating team.... On another note, if POR ever wanted to get a crapload for trading LA, I'll bet OKC would bite.....If LA had been on that team, I think they would have advanced past MEM w\o needing Westbrook.....
My feelings on them exactly. Its a shame because other than that they are a team I want to like but just can't.
Do you think Maynor was watching thinking, "Damn. That should have been my time to shine."? He would have been more effective than Fish.
I think OKC would have been a better all around team keeping Maynor and Harding and trading Westbrook.
It was only the cheapness of their owner that caused it. They didn't have to give up anyone. Say what you will about PA, but if our core fleshed out and didn't have injury issues, he would have paid the max to GO, B-Roy and LA while ponying up for Nico and whoever else without blinking.
Yep! Clay Bennett and his cheap ass investment group will be the clippers of the 2010-20. Then he will sell the team once he realizes he is a dipshit.
In the meantime, we can continue to admire the amazing t-shirt color coordination that he orchestrates in OKC.
Funny.. this is the first non Blazers involved playoffs I've watched any games of since Boston beat Lakers.
I have a few friends who are big Thunder fans (one who is related to a team member), but I can't help rooting against them. Why? Not because they left Seattle (I don't care about that) nor about Bennett's actions (I think that he made his hometown city pretty happy, which is admirable, even as he screwed over lots of other people). I root against the Thunder because our team SHOULD be better than them right now. We were decimated by injuries and never fulfilled our promise, while the Thunder just kept rolling along, injury-free (setting aside Jeff Green), until this offseason. I don't wish for injuries for players, but I do wish for losses, and the Thunder losing makes me smile. Ed O.
