A free agent can not be traded before Dec. 15th, or, 3 months after the contract is signed, WHICH EVER IS LATER.
First thing I learned about Olshey is you won't know what he's doing until 1 minute before a deadline...he isn't a guy who let's rumors spread much
I've always been confused by the statements like this. "The Trail Blazers is offering". Why isn't the correct way to write that "The Trail Blazers ARE offering"? Saying "is", makes it sound like it's improper english, "They IS who we say they is"
correct unless you use it as a non count noun which usually would say the Trail Blazers Organization is....
No, that's not it at all. It all depends on if you're signed with cap space or bird rights. Bird rights retentions have a later trade-availability date.
But if we want to net someone significant the package will have to include Moe Harkless. Him and Aminu (and maybe Davis) are our only positives assets at the moment with good contracts. With those three we are at about 21M. Which is enough to get an all-star caliber player. Is someone desperate enough to accept that and some picks? I am not sure. But Moe at this price must have a really really high value around the league.
Here is the NBA's official explanation of the free agent trade rule. I have not had enough coffee yet to completely understand what it says in the last paragraph about bird rights, cap space and salary. But I believe you make a valid point.
Watch a Jazz or Heat TV broadcast and it will drive you crazy! They say the Jazz/Heat IS all game long!
File this with the Boogie rumors. Why on earth would Miami do it? The point of Whiteside is to be their rebuilding block. The only reason to make him available is if he's a total headcase, otherwise there's no reason for Miami to trade a top 5 YOUNG center. With this crazy rumor being reported, I'm surprised I haven't seen more of the even crazier rumor that we're trading for Jimmy Butler.
Fansided is what bleacherreport used to be - an unpaid vanity publishing site for fanboy wannabees. It has zero credibility. Articles there are no more valid than random trade proposals in this forum, and usually even more poorly researched. In other words, made up bullshit by some random nobody. I read an article on fansided yesterday where the author claimed Aminu was having a career year. It had so many errors, I didn't bother posting a link. BNM
Hey, don't you know we live in a post truth reality now? "I’m sorry, Jeannie, your answer was correct, but Kevin shouted his incorrect answer over yours, so he gets the points.”
The article reads like it was written in Latvian and translated to English using google translate. BNM
