I think TBPup was just going after Neil's signings/targets. To which I'd add Dorrel Wright (I think Neil signed him?), Aminu, and Davis. I'm thankful that Aminu/Davis are on bargain contracts, but as actual players they aren't making a very strong case for Neil.
I disagree I'm only trading CJ for Cousins. Dealing CJ for Whiteside leaves us with one consistent scorer. One. That would be a disaster, no matter how good Whiteside is defensively. Teams could double, maybe even triple Lillard without fear of anybody else making them pay for it.
Don't need Dragic. CJ is a great talent, if you are trading him go for a top tier player, not Whiteside.
Whiteside averages 17ppg. That's not really bad for a secondary scorer. I think between him and more touches for Mo and Crabbe, we'd be fine in the scoring department. Especially with our offensive system. He's not my ideal target, but he'd be a significant upgrade if we swapped him for CJ.
Why would they trade Whiteside? Centers like him are very rare. I don't think they'd even give him to us for CJ and multiple picks.
not surprising most of the hypotheticals here pretty lopsided in Portland's favor...it's tradition! It would probably take CJ + Mason to balance things out talent wise from their prospective, but then the dollars aren't right... maybe PDX would have to throw in someone else with a huge contract. Regardless, it seems very unlikely they're looking to move Hasaan right after resigning him and him producing quite well this season. STOMP
To be fair, the basis for this thread was a post from a Heat blogger suggesting Meyers/Mason/Harkless plus picks would be a good haul for Whiteside from Miami's perspective. Personally I think that would be silly for them, but the idea's not just a Blazer fan creation.
Figured it wasn't really worth starting a new thread about but my source that has connections to another front office in the NBA told me yesterday that there have been whispers out there of PDX exploring a deal centered around Boogie for CJ/Meyers/2nd Rounder. I love CJ to death and find watching him and Dame play together is awesome. But thinking about it, if you have the chance to combine Boogie with Dame...that is a SOLID foundation for a contending team and I would have to seriously consider it as a Blazer.
That sounds almost reasonable. Personally, I think CJ and DMC are of equal value (with an argument for CJ being of higher value). CJ would, undoubtedly, be able to lead the Kings to at least the same "heights" that DMC has taken them. And could very easily take them much further. For that reason I don't think we should be the team that adds "sweeteners" to the deal. I'm fine adding a 2nd rounder. But despite being off the Meyers wagon, I don't think we should need to include him in the deal (and I still think he could be the perfect complement alongside DMC). I know some of you will say dumping his contract is more than enough reason to include him, but at $10M I think that's a pretty easy contract to deal with in this new age - the only bad contracts we have are Crabbe/Turner. If we have to include another player I'd rather move Davis (who, yes, has an even more friendly contract) because he just doesn't possess any real skill aside from occasional good defense.
I have a couple people I trust that have given me information that's proved to be accurate over time. When I can, I try to share it here with people. Obviously I'm just a guy on the internet so you can take it with a grain of salt lol but the last thing he shared with me was the 4/40 Meyers contract and that was a full week or so before it was announced.
