Gallinari has averaged 39 games per year over the last 5 years. He also shot just 32% from 3 last year when he did play.
Look I want to get rid of Turner more than anything, but Gallinari is near the top of the NBA for biggest contract for least amount of production. Granted that is mostly due to injury but that is a huge risk. The Clippers would be doing back flips if they got rid of his contract for a lesser one and got an asset out of it.
Yes Gallinari is a risk but were talking about Evan Turner and Jake Layman here. And when Gallinari is healthy, he fits our system better than Turner does. He’s a proven scorer and shooter. That’s worth the added $2m (plus tax.) It also opens a roster spot.
What exactly do you mean with "jaynes asked about cap implications and Neil brought up Paul Allen. Seems like he’s not going anywhere."? I Don't understand that Part
Gallinari is about as good as you can ask for when trading Evan Turner... he would be a great fit in Stotts system and his 3pt percentage would go up for sure
He can't even move anymore. He's about to turn 30 and is a shell of what he used to be. He's played in less than half of the games over the past 5 years. How is that a good fit?
That percentage is skewed because he’s been relied on to carry his teams offensively. He’s played on some bad offensive units where he was the primary option. He is an excellent free throw shooter and has had enough seasons with great percentages to suggest he would improve his efficiency with lower usage. Hed be a great addition, just like Mirotic would’ve been. I’d rather spend $6m on Gallinari, injuries and all, than $30m or whatever on a TPE guy.
He had a PER of 19 and 17 the two seasons before this past one, playing 30+ minutes a night. I don’t think he’s done at all.
Did you watch him play at all last year? It was painful for me just to watch him try to move up and down the court. The guy is shot. I wouldn't mind trading Turner for him but WE better be the ones getting something thrown in, not the other way around.
