True, except the added salary over the next two years. I just don't think we should have to give up something to take him on.

Me neither, no disagreement on that score.

It has been explained to me that Turner's advanced stats are so bad, that it would be much better if he simply were off the team.

Gallinari is constructed of some pretty brittle material. ET is one of my least favorite Blazers of all time, but I have a feeling Gallinari might be even worse.

Lol I've been saying it since that Interview from Neil during the Summer League game: he wants ET the primary ballhandler in the 2nd Unit, surround him with shooters, we have already 5-6 guards. Thats my theory why Baldwin get's cut. When Neil said he want's Zach closer to the Basket, from that moment i knew Ed will Go, and that's what happened. Just my oppionion

I think someone else goes before Baldwin. I get your point. It adds up, but remember... Neil Olshey....

Even last year in an injury plagued down season, He posted a higher PER than Turner ever has in his CAREER.

I would be pretty surprised, after nurturing Baldwin along, if we simply cut him. My dream is that Olshey is talking ET up to gaslight the rest of the league into thinking he's not as bad as he is and then BAM! a trade! Then Wade gets his minutes, and the rookies get some run or maybe Nik. In reality, Wade and Curry will probably get the Shabazz/Pat minutes with a second-team lineup of Curry, Wade, and ET with two bigs playing simultaneously.

Looking at the clippers depth chart

They have Wesley Johnson and Dekker at SF.

Tobias, newly signed Mike Scott, Mbah a Moute, and Gallinari at PF.

Their backcourt is also very undersized.

    There’s a match there imo.

    Wonder what Jerry is doing.

They have Gallo and Lou Will along with their picks for 2019. That's it.

    Absolutely, looking at their salaries:
    Gallo: 21.5, 22.5
    Turner: 17.9, 18.6
    (Biebs: 10.6, 11.3)

There's no way I take on the extra salary. Now, if they take Biebs, too, I might be more interested. For example,
    Turner + Biebs for Gallo
would save us salary immediately (not sure if it's legal cap-wise, though)

Turner + Biebs for Gallo and Wesley Johnson ($6.1, $0) + 2nd rounder
wouldn't save us $$$ this year, but would save us $7.5M next year with Johnson off the ledger!

That may be so, but PER only measure offensive contribution. Gallinari is not remotely as good on defense as Turner. I'm not saying we shouldn't do the swap, but I would rather take on Tristan or someone that can play some defense.

Tristan can’t shoot, no way would Portland be interested. They could’ve just kept Davis.

Sigh . . . that isn't the point. I thought we were discussing who we could swap Turner for. If you keep Turner, then you need to have four people around him that can shoot. If you trade Turner, you can afford to take back either a shooter or non-shooter. IF, we are moving Turner, who is a good defensive player, I would rather replace him with another good defensive player who can score, but cannot shoot, rather than a player who is poor defensively, likes to shoot, but isn't very efficient.

Again, YES, I would rather have ET gone and have kept Ed, but that isn't/wasn't an option.

@Scalma and I completely understand your point and agree with it!!!!

    But...........
All of us view Turner as a net negative asset. Olshey doesn't. Trading Turner to get Ed Davis back doesn't make sense if you think Turner has value.

The only way Turner is traded is if our trade partnet agrees that Turner is a net positive, and accords us value appropriate for that assumption. Unfortunately, that is, IMHO, unlikely to occur.

More than likely they will have to wait a year so it is an expiring contract. It could come in handy. Probably won't, but in theory we need a large expiring contract if we ever do make a trade for a disgruntled vet. We certainty could not send 6 young players out for one vet.

In the mean time use him right. Have him guard the best wing off the opponents bench and allow him to be the 2nd or 3rd ball handler with the 2nd unit. Just don't use him as a PG. Minimize his 3 pt attempts and let him attack the basket.

ET is a decent player if used right. His contract is an issue but by next summer it could be an asset. We always need wing defenders. He might not be an all league defender but he is still one of the better ones on our team.

I hear what you are saying, but I'm not sure Olshey doesn't think ET is a negative. What Olshey says publicly is likely not what he believes. Either Olshey really believes ET can be the key to the second unit, OR, Olshey is talking about it a lot hoping to drive up ET's trade value. I cannot see that there is any way to tell which it really is, but I believe Olshey sees the same things we all do and is just trying to make ET marketable.

I believe Olshey knows talent. He isn't the best at everything, but I think he knows talent.

He also knows how to play the media and hold his cards tight. IT wouldn't surprise me in the least if he believes the exact opposite and knows he needs ot move him asap t save this team. He casnt come out and say that though.

It sounds like we were interested in someone like Lee for trade exception but because we got Trent, Curry and Simons this is no longer needed. Happy with that.

We probably won’t use the Crabbe TPE and I am fine with that. He’s right to point the real cost of it and yes, I know this is Paul Allen’s money but it still makes no sense to spend $40million or so on an average player.

I wonder what the lopsided trade would be. Hope we are interested in someone like Otto Porter.
