Excellent post. Too much impatience in today's world. I've always heard good things come to those who wait. That can be frustrating I know. But Neil is not trying to sabotage this franchise, though it seems quite a few in here seem to have come to that conclusion. On Gallo, I love his skillset and all, but the dude can't stay on the court, at all, due to injuries. That gamble makes zero sense for the Blazers franchise and fanbase.
The team has zero plan. Their two best players are reaching their late 20s and they keep drafting 19 year old rookies.
They'll need to replace those guys in their late 20's, since they're literally weeks away from needing to retire.
If you don't see two divergent directions.... I don't know what to tell you. We have a 1st team all-nba player and we're surrounding him with projects
IF Olshey is smart enough to see it the way we see it (which I am not totally convinced of) then other GMs are smart enough to see him as a net negative like we do, as well.
People said CJ was "years" from producing anything great, and when Wesley left, no one expected CJ to perform what he did. I'm not sure they're really going in two different directions. Especially considering they *kept* the players who Trent and Simons would theoretically replace. And they just signed Nurk to 4 years.
All dynasties have to start somewhere. Remember the Warriors 10 years ago? Olshey is doing this the right way.
10 years ago when they they didn't have Curry, Thompson, or Draymond? What about them? You guys keep throwing out weird comparisons that have nothing to do with our current situation.
Gotta start somewhere though. Swept in the first round doesn’t mean blow it up. It means find the right missing pc to get further. No it has not. It’s been three since the major overhaul began. Which is the topic of discussion based on my post.
In the NBA, a major overhaul takes a season at most, usually less. No GM is allowed more than that without major criticism, probably getting fired for slowness. Especially when his only trade in 3 years is the easy Nurkic trade, and his motivation is economics, not a continuous effort to improve.
I’m sure he is concerned about us knowing his plan. So if we know his plan so does the league and they start trying to cockbblock him because he has a plan. I don’t know if he modified since 2016 or not but just because I don’t know what he is doing doesn’t mean he doesn’t have a plan.
