Yi will not create shots for himself or others, but if Devin and VC create it for him he will finish the open dunks and jumpshots, and he will defend PFs well.
    He is better than Sean

well he's playing better in garbage time that doesn't impress me. what does impress me is the skills he has, his versatility is pretty impressive, he can fade with ease in the lane, he has great athletic ability, and has shown a lot of promise as a big running the break. with devin and vince I can see him getting dunk after dunk on the break.

yeah, but it's almost like he coast after a couple minutes of great play...as if to say that "I've done enough for the time being, now I'll take a break." He has the talent but not the passion

totally agree fefe, he is a PF there is no question. after watching several of his games it looks like that is definitely his position and he's got all the skills as a finisher. He just needs to get stronger. I also feel that he as much potential as sean on defense and as of now he is more disciplined on defense as well. Vince and Devin creating for Yi will definitely allow him to grow.

Yi in this game didn't impress me one bit.
Yi is clearly a pf with a drik/chris bosh type of style
His ball handeling isn't great, shot selection is iffy
Speedwise, he needs to be a little more explosive
I can't wait to see Sean go up against Yi in practice

Is this sarcasm? You're saying 2004 USA team is better?

It also helps when you're in a team full of NBA all stars. Little bit of apples vs oranges comparison here.

Yi didn't play well, but he's not going to be matched up vs a team like this in the NBA. Yi is confused with his role on the CNT. He's going to be up and down, he'll actually play better when Yao is on the bench. The major problem has been outside shooting.

OK, does no one recall just how horrible RJ was in 2004? Not including a game against Lithuania, he scored a total of 34 points in 126 minutes, including zero points against Greece and two against Australia. I can't find his shooting percentage.

If your argument is that RJ MUST be better than Yi because Yi had a bad game in the Olympics, get a grip. You can't do any worse than RJ did four years ago.

Ok, I thought it might have been sarcasm [IMG]

No one WANTS to remember the 2004 USA team. Find the biggest rug and sweep.

China's PGs are horrible at feeding the post. i'm surprised no one is really mentioning that. give him VC and Harris, and we'll see what he can do off their play.

i think we can all agree he has talent... but u guys are rite... in the CNT Yao is the offense... not Yi... it must suck from being the #1 scoring option when Yao was hurt to being nothin... they dont give him the opportunity to succeed.... and with the nets he will get a lot more OPEN looks... and he has such a fluid shot its amazing for a big man [IMG]

im happy from what i saw... and he was a rookie last year and hes 20 yrs old playin in his home COUNTRY where 1 billion people were watchin... lol he will be fine

    in rod i trust [IMG]

I'm reading one of the Bucks forum. They're really happy over Yi's underwhelming performance. Until someone pointed out that Yi scored the same as Redd and vs team USA defense. Then they said it was garbage time and that's where Redd was signed up to score, but Yi failed to score when the game was on the line.

Also, Bogut got wrecked by the Croatians. 7pts, 0 rebounds.

    I hate Bucks fans.

Doesn't that just make Redd's performance that much worse? Garbage time is when it should be easy to score. At least Yi failed against real defense.

I saw a putback on Carmelo that I liked, a transition dunk through traffic, and a pretty fade-a-way jumper from the post. There really wasn't a lot I didn't like. Sure I wish I saw more of these things, but I didn't see turnovers, dumb plays, or horrific defense.
