Phil Jackson would trade him for anything.
The question is if he would waive the no-trade clause and if we really want him on the Blazers

I think there's an argument to be made for a trade for 'Melo improving this team, but I doubt he would waive the no-trade clause, and I also think you overestimate the Knicks' desire to offload him.

Or, perhaps, the Knicks' commitment to Phil Jackson as GM.

The Knicks are going nowhere with him. They'd try to trade him but if I'm Phil Jackson I would even consider waiving him

I agree that they're not going anywhere with him, but I'm pretty sure they still have an inflated sense of his trade value. Were it not for the no-trade clause, they'd be fielding pretty decent offers for him already. It's tough when the player holds all the cards.

    Hello darkness, my old friend
They're not going anywhere with Anthony, but it's not like they're going anywhere replacing him with a worse player on a bloated contract or some waiver wire pick-up while paying Anthony's salary (if they simply waived him). I don't think Anthony makes them worse--he's just no longer the primary driver of that team, nor is he suited to be the primary driver of a team.

Kenyon wants him to go to Portland or Washington, but mainly Portland. I don't know how to feel about it. Never been a fan but if it didn't cost us much, fuck it?

Maybe if they throw in the 7th pick. Otherwise no.

    Washington makes sense for Melo.

I would love to get Melo if we keep our big 3.

    Dame/CJ/Melo/Vonleh/Nurkic is a fun team.

But they're happy with Porter and Morris, right?

Porter isn't half the offensive threat Carmelo is.

Porter is a stud. Two way player. He's about to get a max contract. Washington doesn't need Melo.

Harkless, Napier, Leonard, and one of our first rounders for Melo.

But I bet New York would prefer Crabbe and a first. Crabbe is our best trade chip outside dame, CJ, and Nurkic.

That first deal is good for Knicks.

I wonder what Carmelo's trade value is. Can't imagine New York getting anything close to "full" value.

The Knicks only trade for guys who were really, really good 4 years ago. Unfortunately, that makes it impossible for a team as young as ours to pillage them.

My guess is they wind up trading him for Dwight Howard. I haven't looked at any numbers or read anything, but it just feels right.

Maybe they'll trade for a player that was a young center with potential four years ago. Meyers Leonard could be right up their alley.
