Pressuring him to do so would move him closer to the goal, even if he never reaches the goal. Right now, all Blazer coaches and fans just accept his mediocre effort without complaint.

Its mind boggling to me that Blazers fans have become so complacent with him the last few years. Feels like a lot of it has to do with just relief that one guy from the Roy/Oden/LMA core turned into a multi-time all-star. There's an incredible amount of bitching and moaning about players who are virtually irrelevant in the grand scheme of things (see: winning championships), yet this guy has gotten a pass the last few years. Putting a fire under LMA's ass is the most obvious way to elevate the team to the next level, but no one has pressured him to improve on defense or play down low since Nate left. He may be the most talented big man currently playing (factoring age into the equation), yet hes mostly an afterthought in discussions about the best bigs and most impactful players in the league because he settles for being a borderline all-star kind of player.

In an ideal Blazers world LMA is the centerpiece and Lillard is the #2. THAT could be a contending core. LMA is probably thanking god that the Blazers got Lillard so he can continue to float around the perimeter and avoid and kind of pressure or discomfort that comes with being the person who is expected to lead the team.
