Here's what wikipedia says about David Koch - "He advocated for the abolition of Social Security, the FBI, the CIA, and public schools."
Randomly, I started going through a Wikipedia wormhole, and just learned that while Charles and David Koch each owned 42% of Koch industries the other 16% was owned by J. Howard Marshall II, who was the octogenarian that Anna Nicole Smith famously married for his fortune back in the 90's.
Now that Mortimer has died, I wonder if Randolph will sell the family business or wait until after the annual orange crop report.
As usual, you don't know your enemies from your allies. https://www.cnn.com/2014/12/14/politics/david-koch-gay-rights-abortion-democrats/index.html David Koch is pro-choice, supports gay rights; just not Democrats Sara Fischer, CNN Updated 9:14 AM ET, Fri August 23, 2019 Washington (CNN)David Koch, one of America's richest businessmen and largest political donors, says he is just fine with giving money to candidates who hold different social views than he does because its his economic concerns that matter most. "I'm basically a libertarian. And I'm a conservative on economic matters and I'm a social liberal," he told ABC's Barbara Walters in an interview that aired on "This Week." Koch, who supports gay rights and women's right to choose, said if candidates he gives to don't share those ideals, "That's their problem. I do have those views." "What I want these candidates to do is to support a balanced budget," Koch said. "I'm really focused intensely on economic and fiscal issues, because if those go bad the country as a whole suffers terribly." Koch and his brother, Charles, are top executives and board members of Koch Industries, a multinational corporation that is largely involved in manufacturing, energy, trade and investments. Collectively, the Koch brothers have spent millions of dollars of their personal wealth to promote a small government, free-market agenda. Often criticized by Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, a Democrat, for his vast campaign spending, Koch said he plays fair and by the rules of the game. "I contribute to public candidate campaigns and there is a federal limit on how much you can contribute to each individual candidate," Koch said. "They have a law in that regard and I feel that I'm doing it properly
Any change in NC schools would have to be viewed as a positive result. But please explain who his supporters are, as he is not a politician nor a movie star. He's a highly successful businessman and the only support he receives from anyone is profits from his customers and clients, who are Americans from every walk of life. So I guess you're saying Americans from every walk of life took over the major school boards in North Carolina.
Their supporters are far Right and Libertarians. He once ran for Vice President of the United States which I would guess defines him as 'political'. I searched long and hard and cannot find where I said "Americans from every walk of life took over the major school boards in North Carolina", maybe you could point it out. The Koch family got a big break in the oil business in the Soviet Union. ""Unable to succeed at home, Koch found work in the Soviet Union". Between 1929 and 1932 Winkler-Koch "trained Bolshevik engineers and helped Stalin's regime set up fifteen modern oil refineries" in the Soviet Union." I believe that neither of Fred Koch's two sons finished college or even spent a significant amount of time in college, so yeah, they strike me as typical Republicans.
