mu-wa-ha-ha-ha this is where Canada CREAMS the US, CBC has live coverage for everything then reshows it at night and the French CBC carries other events live as well. NBC always screws it up and it's sad how they blatantly cover only events that the US if favored to medal in too. CBC covers many different sports regardless of Canada's medal hopes. I also get NBC too so it's more Olympic coverage for Canadians
Man this sucks, I wake up in the morning, wait for the ceremony and nothing. USA television sucks. This is why I want to go back to Europe.

I have regular cable, too, but I still heard digital cable or satellite still sucks
This is absolutely unbelievable. The opening with the drummers was incredible. This tribute they are doing right now to China's maritime history is beautiful.

The beginning was fantastic, though.</div> haha yeah, I was thinking the same thing. It's nice to look at...but I'm starting to wish I got tonight's preseason football. What they need to have happen is Lebron come in wearing a Godzilla costume and start knocking people around. edit: yes I know that's Japan.
Here in the USA the players haven't even come out. We're at the part where the school children are learning that global warming is going to **** them in the future. (I'm paraphrasing Lauer)
They haven't had the parade of nations or the torch-lighting yet. A lot of the stuff we are watching doesn't make since because its a tribute to China and its heritage but to Chinese people, I bet the whole opening ceremonies has a lot of meaning.

It does a great, artistic job of narrating China's historical accomplishments (gunpowder, compass, printing, paper, Silk Road, Great Wall etc). By the time China's team arrives though, I was bored as hell. But the eventual lighting of the cauldron was epic.
I am disappointed the parade of nations isn't in traditional alphabetical order. Now I have no idea how much longer the parade of nations has left...
