<div class="quote_poster">Quoting hagrid:</div><div class="quote_post">If the Celtics pull this one out somehow, it'll be because the players deemed it so, like they always do, not because John Carroll is a good coach.</div>I know what you mean. Did you see when they showed a reply of his speech in the huddle? It was like he was talking to himself as no one was listening to him. No respect whatsoever.
What I want to know is why did Carroll pull Hunter after the incident. He was obviously under JO's skin. Indy has Artest doing the same thing, why aren't we giving it back? P.S.-I'm still pissed about JO flopping. Lost alot of respect.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting hagrid:</div><div class="quote_post">It doesn't matter, he still left the bench and must be suspended. You're right in that the NBA will turn it's head on this like it always does in matter like this, but the rules are clear and Artest didn't turn around on his own accord, he was screamed at by assistant coaches. You could tell by the look on his face he clearly knew what he did was wrong. </div> Today just may be your lucky day, hagrid. The league is reviewing the game tape and is deciding whether or not to suspend him. Link I wasn't for a suspension earlier. However, seeing how Richard Jefferson was suspended for leaving the bench after Williams knocked Kidd to the floor, I think that Ron Artest should be given equal punishment. No double standards.
Artest told reporters today that he spoke to League officials and they informed him that he would not be suspended. Although I admire his retraint for retreating to the bench, he should be suspended.
He should be suspended, Particularly if they've suspended Jefferson for a similar incident. However, Stern loves screwing the Celtics, so I won't be surprised if justice isn't served. <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Did you see when they showed a reply of his speech in the huddle?</div> Yeah, I saw it but was more concerned with what he actually said: <font color="DarkRed">"I want you guys to improve. If you can't get back into this game, then improve for next game"</font> Way to convey the message that it's ok to give up John. After all, that speech came early in the 3rd quarter, when a comeback was still entirely possible. To me that was like saying, forget about this game, There's always another one. What'sJohn's speech going to be when we're down 3-0 and facing elimination? Here's my guess: "Don't worry boys, I made golf reservations"? Or maybe it's this: "No, I'm not a real coach, but I did stay at a Holiday Inn Express last night!"
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting hagrid:</div><div class="quote_post">Or maybe it's this: "No, I'm not a real coach, but I did stay at a Holiday Inn Express last night!"</div>lol...nice. I remember what he said and I thought the same thing. Why was he giving up on this game. The Celtics showed glimpes of good ball. They played a good first quarter and than it went downhill. They also made a mini comeback when they went on the 12-0 run but once Artest broke that run the Celtics seemed to give up. I don't think Danny Ainge's comments helped this team either when he said that it would have been better to get that lottery pick. He is pretty much saying we don't have a chance in the playoffs so we should be looking foward to next year. Maybe thats where Carrol got his coaching strategies from?
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting hagrid:</div><div class="quote_post">He should be suspended, Particularly if they've suspended Jefferson for a similar incident. </div> The article I read by Steve Politi indicated that a suspension was coming. However, Henacy says that they won't suspend him. I can't find an article about him NOT being suspended, but I'm taking Henacy's word for it. Either way, why is there even a penalty for leaving the bench if all you do is take two steps out? I see players jump out onto the court in celebration after their team makes a good play a lot. Why is this any different? I think the focus should be on Brandon Hunter/Jermaine O'Neal and Frank Williams rather than Artest and Jefferson. Sure, if the league was fair and followed the rules, they'd suspend them both. However, there should be some talk about changing the rules, because this is just asinine.
In the League's defense, I think it is a good rule when their is a fight or altercation to make sure everyone keeps their cool and stays on their bench.
I believe that the rule is in place, because of the fact that bench players have played large roles in past on-court brawls. For wrong or right, they've implemented a no-tolerance policy for leaving the bench during altercations. A few steps out of excitement, I can understand. Not a full out run to half court, like Artest did. Sure, he didn't get involved in the altercation, but until the assistant coaches got his attention and back to the bench, he was going to get involved. You could clearly see the look of "oh crap, I gotta get back on the bench before someone sees me" look on Artest's face afterwards. Regardless, as I said earlier, I'm used to Stern turning his head when it comes to the Celtics, so I'm not expecting anything to come out of this. Besides, when the C's turn it around and win this series, I don't want any excuses like Artest being out for a game.

You Celtic Fans, Are Peein In You Pants Because You Know That INDIANA, Are Going To Kick Your Rear Ends!!
The difference was the superior Pacer front court. They dominated this game, and the Celtics panicked once they got behind by double digits. Mark Blount didn't show any patience in the low block and forced the issue, instead of letting the game come to him. The Celtics could not function whenever Pierce rested. They need another player to pick up his scoring and intensity when he takes a seat. The Celtics should look at game tape and focus on the way Atkins was able to penetrate and score at will on Tinsley. They should run a lot of pick and rolls in the next game, because Tinsley gets lost on defensive assignments. I think the Celtics should also look at bringing Welsch off the bench. He looked very jittery on the court and did a lot of unneccessary dribbling. If no one steps up, Pierce needs to start shooting 25+ shots a game for the Celtics to have a chance. EDIT -- It's a official Ron Artest is suspended for this game.

Though I couldn't see it, stupid DirecTV, from what I've seen and heard it was a horrible second half performance defensively. They're going to need to step up or they'll be easily beaten and make all the analysts look right.
Damn, I saw that the Celtics had an 8 point lead in the third quarter. They needed to win Game 2 to have a chance in this series.
<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">from what I've seen and heard it was a horrible second half performance defensively.</div> I consider it more a horrible 4th quarter reversion back to bad offensive habits. The defense just suffered because those bad O decisions left us in crappy position to play transition defense. <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">You Celtic Fans, Are Peein In You Pants Because You Know That INDIANA, Are Going To Kick Your Rear Ends!!</div> I don't know whether to laugh or cry on that one. I'd laugh at the fact that you come into our forum to taunt and cry from the massive hilarity that, THAT represented the best you could come up with. <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">The Celtics should look at game tape and focus on the way Atkins was able to penetrate and score at will on Tinsley.</div> Atkins simply owns Tinsley, which I have to admit came as a surprise to me. I thought Banks could exploit him because of his exemplary speed. The second surprise on this situation is that Banks is playing so horribly and Atkins has kept us in games. Veteran leadership was one thing we knew we could count on from Chucky. The offense he's provided has come as a complete, but welcome surprise. Home better be where the heart is and we better show some heart when we get back to the Jungle, because right now I'm increadibly disappointed in the showing we put forth thus far. Carroll is killing me with the misappropriation of playing time to the wrong players and the players are killing me by pulling this Jeckyl and Hyde crap. We need to get physical with Indy and I don't understand why Carroll didn't go immediately back to Hunter in Game 2. We needed the dedicated work on the boards and it would have taken some of the effect (to the casual fan) off the assinine comment Carlisle made in calling Hunter "nothing more than a goon". These are tailor-made situations to get Hunter in there to bang for 15-20 mins a game. Upset their offense the way they are upsetting ours, by being constantly physical and seemingly always right in your face. This stuff isn't rocket science, is it? I'm not saying anything here that isn't common sense, right? If it isn't, then can someone get it to John Carroll please?
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting Kareem.02:</div><div class="quote_post">You Celtic Fans, Are Peein In You Pants Because You Know That INDIANA, Are Going To Kick Your Rear Ends!!</div> Unneccessary. Hagrid, something tells me the Celtics should hire you for games 3, 4, 5 and 6, because I need to Celtics to win every one or I lose my signature
