Right, my gripe is less with him (I actually like what he's doing), than with Stotts's utilization of him.
I think AA is perfect for us. I prefer him as a sixth man than a starter. He's playing a lot with the starters so of course he's not taking a lot of shots. I like that he's not forcing shots and is trying to fit in. I like his defense -- defense wins "chips". Having a starter-quality wing coming off the bench helps too. I like his drive. I like his maturity. I like our chances.
I think hes going to turn out great for us. You can already tell he's a hard nosed defender and a great mid range shooter which we freaking need since we have nobody that goes into the paint/mid range that much.
Rasti, are you turning into one of those imaginary characters? Or do you really believe what you said in the OP?
I like him. I think he has fit in nicely and as time goes on think that will even improve. He hasn't forced anything and has played right into the team. Defensively, he is better than many of you advertised and in the playoffs, he's going to help. I am surprised he has cut into CJs time. You can very easily play him at three and give CJ 15 mins a game at backup two.
let him breathe, Jesus..... Let him settle in and give him at least 10-15 games to sort himself out and get familiar. i was wondering how long it'd take until someone pulled a ton of straws together and put them under a cloud of doom n gloom.
For some reason not many players are above average at stopping on a dime and hitting a pull jumper over an opponent. That shot combined with his three point range makes him dangerous. I like these type of players.
Boy, it's fortunate for you that you chose to make this thread after a game where he didn't do that well. If you had made this thread after the big win against a division rival where he scored 10 points in the 4th quarter, I don't know if it would have made any sense
AA is a very good player. I'm very happy he is a blazer. Just trade CJ for a draft pick and the problem is solved.
I love him. The moment he gets familiarized with our offense, I think he's going to be the perfect scorer off the bench. He's just learning our system right now. The fact, he uses his muscle and posts up hard is simply refreshing. I expect more slashing, cutting and post up after the 10 game honeymoon.
Why do so many people think that Pops could magically turn Claver into a NBA player? Do you think that Stotts is too stupid? Incompetent? What about Team Spain? They didn't use Claver much. Claver has great basketball IQ but not NBA quickness. IMO Stotts has expanded the games of Batum, LMA, Lillard and Wes. If there was a way for Claver to contribute I firmly believe Stotts would have found it. Claver is where he belongs.
I'd be shocked if Rasta thought positively of a US born player over a foreign. I'm very excited about having Afflalo on the team. We don't win the OKC game without him. Claver Barton TRob didn't help us win much of anything in years but Afflalo did it in his 3rd game.
I'm so crazy I think we should've drafted Steven Adams, Giannis Antetokounmpo, Dennis Schroeder, Gorgui Dieng or Rudy Gobert over CJ. Blinded by anti-Americanism, I guess.
I think his real problem is that he can't shoot. He's otherwise very comparable to Nicolas Mirotic (another foreigner I wanted to draft over All-USA Nolan Smith - when will I learn?) Actually, that and the fact that he's almost pathalogically unassertive. One can agree with the first part of the above without believing that the second part follows. Stotts has a system that benefits certain players and not others. You may be right that there's NO NBA system in which Claver would flourish, but the fact that he didn't do so for Stotts (or wasn't even given much of a chance) doesn't prove it. Moscow? Harsh!
