A point better than Claver's, and two points better than Will Barton's. While we're talking small sample size judgments, Alonzo Gee's PER is sixth best on the team.
Shoot, why stop there? Why not go back over every draft and tell us about all the foreign players we passed on?
"Small sample size"? So this is the PER since the trade, I take it? That would be odd, given the numbers Will's been putting up (and, of course, Claver hasn't put up any numbers at all). So what IS the sample size? And why so coy about giving actual numbers?
If you seriously don't understand the value of adding a veteran wing who can score and play defense, I really really don't know what to tell you. We traded three unreliable young guys who needed minutes to develop. We didn't have time to play Will or Vic. We couldn't live through their learning experiences. We're in a playoff hunt right now. Denver is a lottery team. Philly is a lottery team. They can play Will and TRob through their ups and downs. We can't. You seriously don't understand this? Terry can put AA out on the floor and not worry about him making some stupid mistake or allow the other team to go on a crazy run because he's playing like a rookie. We have plenty of young guys to develop right now. CJ, Meyers, Crabbe, etc. We didn't need half our team to be guys in their first four years in the league.
I woke up today and was hoping that this was a bad dream that someone would create this asinine thread. And someone actually did.
It's PER with the Blazers, which is relevant to my interests. We are not Denver (thank FUCKING god), so Will's performance with Denver is meaningless. Why so coy with asking me why I'm so coy? You know why, and so do I. I'd like you to say it, and you want me to say it... the way we flirt is shameless, really.
The fact that anyone would even consider using Barton vs Afflalo as an argument is pretty ridiculous. The sample size is very simple.... When Barton was in the game as a Blazer, I fucking cringed!!! He was absolutely our worst fucking player on the team. I'm saddened by T.Rob because I liked him as a player. But he was not even close either..
So Afflalo's PER with the Blazers is only one point better than Claver's? Yikes. Good thing PER doesn't mean anything... Which one of us is Calvin and which one Susie Derkins?
At least I realize that our child is a rabbit. But back to Afflalo: he seems okay, but it also seems clear that he looked better because he was on crappy teams. He's an average NBA player at best (with a funky slow release on his shot). To be fair, that makes him instantly our best bench player, but I was also surprised to see he is already 29.
lol. He's been in the league 7 years.... Hes what this team needed. Hes fine. I cant believe there's even an argument about him.
His value will be tested in the playoffs, then we'll see. We didn't give up much to get him. We could bring back TRob next year if we wanted to. Will and Victor weren't doing anything for us. As for CJ, I think the guy is a bust. Too small, not quick enough, not consistent on his shot, not a strong defender. I think he's very average. I hope I'm wrong about him, but I'm not worried about stunting his growth. He's a 4 year college guy right? I don't think he's gonna get much better.
I think some peoples (Though it seems to be a smaller and smaller minority) beef is that CJ was getting into a groove right before the trade... so they have this dream that he was going to continue that. I'm glad we got Afflalo, I'd rather have proven than yes-no-maybe-so.
Afflalo never got close with Denver. Never even got out of the first round. He did go to ECF with Pistons but I think that was his rookie year and he wasn't much of a factor.
