I just want people to understand that laws like this often have unintended consequences. Yeah it is shit when someone calls the cops on a family having a BBQ. It's gonna be worse when crazy white people realize they can't just do that without getting in trouble. By the way I doubt most of the trailer trash that does shit like that follow the news....anyway... So they add something like "I can't be sure but I THINK the man cooking the hotdogs has a GUN sticking out of his waistband" Or whatever reason a shifty Nazi feels like making up. Maybe someone does see something suspicious and decide not to call the cops. How can we really know?
Ha! Perhaps what is portrayed here is not what cause the scene. Oakland Parks have an ordinance against Charcoal Grills in some areas and no barbecuing after dusk. What can the Oregon legislature do about that one? Having docked in Oakland, it is a little difficult for me to believe a white person in Oakland called 911 about a black person barbecuing in a park. Not likely.
Is neighborhood watch suppose to be on the lookout for Blacks in their neighborhood or just people committing crimes and abandoned vehicles?
The thing is, I don't think it is "shifty Nazis" who are calling the cops on harmless people. I think it's relatively normal people with unexamined biases who honestly feel something suspicious might be happening because they're seeing black people in contexts that they don't expect to and it makes them uncomfortable in some undefinable way. I don't think they're trying to find loopholes to go after black people--if they were, they could already be making up bullshit reasons to avoid the ridicule. The first time someone like that is hit by a fine for calling the police on people who weren't doing anything wrong, it may cause them (or their friends/family who maybe they mention it to) to re-evaluate and think a bit harder the next time about whether the person/people in question are actually doing anything shady or suspicious.
Some maybe but the pistol packing KOA types are aware of how racist they are. There are people who call the cops when a power company truck sits in the nieghborhood too long.
Anyone who doesn't belong there or is suspicious. Case in point, every summer, some black kids come and take over our community pool in our complex on some weekends. They throw unauthorized parties, make a bunch of loud music, shit gets vandalized, shit is just trashed. They don't live there and the management puts out memos after the fact as such. So we aren't allowed to call security or the cops on them? Fuck that.

In my neighborhood, it is people unknown to the watch. There are 52 residences in the area. All people living here are known to the watch and their vehicles are in the computer. Services and delivery don't usually get attention but others will set off a warning, especially where the owners are know to be gone for a time.
Man that one has caused me problems in the past. PPL parking their trucks on our association roads overnight when they are working close to the area..
