If he does play for them, he'll be a 20 year old Freshman. Being that he's a physical freak at 17, he could have an amazing impact after he settles in. STOMP
yeah, Allen was quite fast Roderick Pleasant, the Duck freshman, ran a legal 10.14 and a wind-aided 10.09. Don Coleman, who migrated to football from track ran a legal 10.11 in 1978. That's the equivalent of under 10.0 today the thing is though, that a lot of 100M sprinters generate their top 100M speeds in the last 30-40M; that's when they shave time off. Football speed is measured more appropriately by 40M/40yd marks. And what really determines football speed is acceleration and change of direction
Yeah, no doubt nothing is better than someone like DeAnthony Thomas whose 100-meter time was only 10.6. But.......Devon Allen's speed was a great asset stretching the field, and Bair is bigger at 6.'2" than Allen. He looks to have pretty good hands. With that kind of speed, I would anticipate DBs giving him plenty of cushion, and with his height, he should be a good target for short passes because of that extra cushion.
good point. He may become a viable possession receiver like Chase Cota or a bigger/faster Jeff Maehl, but with the speed to be a deadly stop-and-go deep threat. Devon Allen was developing into that but his knees couldn't survive football contact
it kind of got lost in the trade deadline chatter but there was a pretty significant development in NCAA basketball: I'm imagining there's months and months of litigation ahead for this ruling, but it sure looks like the NCAA is on life-support and the coffin is next to the death bed
Helfrich was the king of finishing second for big name recruits(think Juju Smith, Rasheem Green. Josh Sweat). He also worked with less scholarships and official visits because of Chip Kelly's recruiting violations at a time when visiting campuses unofficially wasn't the expectation that it is now. Also, some credit needs to be given to Helfrich when you hear recruits say they've been Oregon fans since the days of Mariota and Deanthony Thomas. Helfrich also coached and recruited these program legends that so many current recruits mention. The Oregon brand makes all of this possible, and it's far greater now than it was even then and it's why every year Oregon gets ranked as among the top social media presences. Cristobal and Lanning are on another level than Helf in terms of recruiting, that is undeniable, but they get too much credit and Helfrich gets too little in most estimations.
