I didn’t think Harris looked good on the carry he got. He had that good reception though.

If Hughes is that bad, I’m concerned. Limar and Whittington really struggled at times last year against B1G competition.

well, I did say the Ducks may have to do RB-by-committee.

    Jonathon Stewart
    Jeremiah Johnson
    Legarrett Blount
    LMJ
    Barner
    Royce Freeman
    Thomas Tyner
    Tony Brooks-James
    CJ Verdell
    Travis Dye
    Bucky Irving
    Jordan James

that list goes back to 2007, Chip's first season as OC. Right now, I don't think the Ducks have any RB's who are as good as the guys on that list. In some cases, the gaps are huge. Now it may be that Jordan Davidson and Dierre Hill will be as good a thunder/lightning combo as Oregon has had in a while. But they aren't there yet

but Hughes is disappointing at this point. The Ducks needed him to be much much better

Wonder how my Ducks quarterback would have looked at the Buckeyes and how Manning would have looked against Montana State at Billings or whoever we played.

What I like about Harris ( 6'2" 224) is that he looks to be a good blocker and receiver. So on passing downs, I feel good about him being in there.

As for Whittington, he struggled early in his return from injury last year, but he improved as the season progressed. And still finished the year with 6 yards per carry. I wouldn't sleep on him. He is a complete back.

As for Hughes, yeah, I expected him to be a bit more explosive. However, he may have been slow to grasp the offense, which could cause him to be indecisive on his runs.

The two true freshmen look to have a ton of potential.

Where are you seeing 6 Y/A?

Whittington had some good games against inferior competition. The only good game where he showed out was Penn State.

    James -
    5.4 Y/A
    90.5 Y/G
    1267 total yards
    233 attempts

    Whittington -
    4.6 Y/A
    38.6 Y/G
    540 total yards
    118 attempts

    Noah's best games last season:
    Oregon State - 64 yards on 7 attempts - 9.1 Y/A
    Illinois - 56 yards on 7 attempts - 8.0 Y/A
    Washington - 67 yards on 9 attempts - 7.4 Y/A
    Penn State - 82 yards on 15 attempts - 5.5 Y/A

    Noah's worst games last season:
    Ohio State - 3 yards on 6 attempts - 0.5 Y/A
    Wisconsin - 5 yards on 3 attempts - 1.7 Y/A
    Ohio State - 7 yards on 3 attempts - 2.3 Y/A
    Idaho - 33 yards on 14 attempts - 2.4 Y/A
    UCLA - 21 yards on 8 attempts - 2.6 Y/A
    Michigan - 36 yards on 11 attempts - 3.3 Y/A

I'm just really not comfortable handing this dude the starting spot.

Here is James against those same opponents
    Ohio State - 115 yards on 23 attempts - 5.0 Y/A
    Wisconsin - 121 yards on 25 attempts - 4.8 Y/A
    Ohio State - 14 yards on 7 attempts - 2.0 Y/A
    Idaho - 95 yards on 15 attempts - 6.3 Y/A
    UCLA - 103 yards on 20 attempts - 5.2 Y/A
    Michigan - 117 yards on 23 attempts - 5.1 Y/A

I just don't see Lanning being like that. Players have to earn their minutes, nothing is just given or handed to them.

there's no real alternative. He's more of a default starter than anything else

Hughes was supposed to be that guy. Hopefully they didn’t spend too much on him.
