A few days ago I bought a gram just to experience legally buying it...it was kind of cool to know I could pick up a gram for about the price of a local bottle of wine without commiting to large amount of it...it cost 15 bucks
Had you smoked recently? Was it a dispensary where they weighed it out, or was it prepackaged in a sealed bag? How was the experience?
I wonder how long until the majority starts growing their own. If you know what you are doing and you can harvest seeds and not have to buy any more plants for a long time. From that you can hypothetically create whatever you want, edibles, concentrates, etc... The statistics wont be available for years (here, sooner in WA, CO) but it will be interesting to see if there is potentially a plateau in revenue which leads to a decline. I think 3+ years out we will have a better idea.
I smoked it..it was pretty cool, had a choice and it was weighed out by a guy who gave me 6 choices for recreational stuff. I bought a sample of stuff that was fruity smelling instead of skunky smelling like most folks prefer..it was more of a body high, probably lower in THC and higher in CBD but I smoked a pipe after dinner every night for the last 5 nights and it's great...my wife is less disturbed by the smell of the purple fruity variety. they took my id...put my info in an account, led me to a locked room with everything laid out..it's also in a smaller town a couple miles from my property so didn't need to go to the city to get it. Cash only though..
A lot of places are cash only, it is actually rare to find somewhere that accepts cards. The places where they weigh it out are always much nicer than the alternative. Those places are usually top shelf, which is the type of place you are going to have to go to if you want to get high CBD flower. You probably wont find any CBD herb at the prepackage dispensaries, and any you did find would probably be sitting in the back for so long that it's potency has broken down. I don't think you will see recreational stores like these dispensaries when Oregon switches to OLCC stores in a year. You might have to be a medical patient to find quality CBD product, which would be an absolute shame.
Wont see home growers happen on a big scale. Heres the things about weed, growing weed is easy but growing chronic is hard. Also growing indoors requires a large initial cash input along with space, and growing outdoor requires space and security. Also getting seeds out of your grow requires a big fuck up or a lot of work, otherwise they will be very rare. There will always be a few hobby growers but the Oregon model is to keep it cheap enough that for most people it will not be worth the effort.
sounds like a good time. Its a lot like wine with all the varieties, flavors, smells, strains and such, I encourage you to try as many different types as possible, because they feel a little different and you will sort of get tolerant to one type, if thats all you smoke. Its a great connoisseur past time, its a fascinating plant in many ways.
This afternoon I made my first visit to an Oregon dispensary. Believe it or not, it was actually called Rip City Remedies. I'm not sure how they get away with that.....but anyway, I have been having some sharp knee pain and stopped in to see what they had that might help. I was the only customer so I had the full attention of the cute stony bud tender. The first two suggestions (9lb Hammer and Blue Magoo) were high THC indica with very low CBD, but then again, I had told her I wanted pain relief with a buzz. Then she suggested the highest CBD they had available (Blue Shark) but it had much, much lower THC. Tough choice so I bought a gram each of the two high THC strains and a joint of the high CBD. Came to $27 which I thought was reasonable and they took debit cards. Finished the high CBD joint about an hour ago. It certainly did wonders for the sharpness of knee pain. It's toned down to a dull ache, if even that. But they were right when they said there wasn't much buzz. So if anyone is looking for something like that, I recommend Blue Shark if you can't find Charlotte's Web. And by the way....it is so very cool to be able to have an open discussion about all this. Very fun and educational.
For me it was an amazing experience and honestly I thought I'd never be able to do this in my lifetime
I also agree with your other statement and would say that I predict that the percent of people (who consume marijuana) that end up growing will probably be comparable to the amount of people(who consume alcohol) that make their own beer/wine. It would be interesting to see statistics to compare the percentages.
And if anyone isn't already aware of it, Leafly is a really good app. I recommend it also. It gives all kinds of info about various strains, keeps up with the new ones, let you know of dispensaries in your area and a lot more.
That seems like a fair comparison. The outdoor grow season will bring more hobbyists as its much easier and not that hard to mix it in with the tomatoes. They hide in plain sight very well. Clones and seeds should be readily available from the weed shops also for pretty cheap also, Im kind of excited to check out their selection. Acquiring new strains has always been the biggest headache in the past. All in all in pretty excited about legalization, but I dont plan on buying much if any weed from these shops. Maybe a few grams for selection here and there.
She is a White Urkle, but I also have a Blue Cheese, Critical Kush lurking around. White Urkle is pretty awesome though, small, dense, crystally, smelly, with a potential for purple.... pretty much everything you ever want in an indica.
Rip City Remedies had clones available, though obviously they would have to be grown inside right now.
They never tell their clone strains on the web site, Ive been meaning to check out the spot by my place just haven't got around to it. Im gearing up for harvest anyway, next week or two. Then Ill worry about all that, actually I wont be worrying about anything for awhile besides maybe the Doritos.
I honestly can't believe we had to wait this long. Not complaining but we decriminalized it in 1973 (when we were both still in the Navy. A virtual lifetime ago!). My older son said that $11M of weed was sold during the first week of October. Think about that. And it was untaxed. Any realistic person knows that it won't continue at that rate but still, the state has to be salivating and wishing January 1 would hurry its ass up and get here. THIS is what the state coffers have been missing out on all these years. Colorado had a tax holiday on weed because they took in more than they projected. Sin tax is the best tax there is, because it is virtually voluntary. We should have wised up years ago.
