What a giant fail. That just sucks. 1080am this morning was saying the yearly payout for the TV deals are going to be $10-12 million per school.

The Pac 12 broke up over a $30 million per year per school deal.

Big 12 and SEC are looking at $80-100 million.

Big 10 is looking at $48 million.

Did you expect $30 million? Not sure why your comparing Corvallis and Pulman to Big10/Big12/SEC money.

Texas State makes about 2 million and the Mountain west makes about 4.

10-12 is actually pretty good. What conference outside the Power4 even makes that much?

I think the PAC hopes is they can build the brand and exposure a bit more then they can get some big additions in 2030 and become the clear 5th best conference.

Noticed a bunch of language about CBS televising conference championship games in Basketball AND Football. Aren't 12 teams needed for a conference championship game?

That would be a lot of dominos to fall besides Texas State. Would need to have multiple rumored teams such as some of UTSA/Memphis/Tulane/Sac State/UNLV/Cal/Standford/UConn/etc.

The reason is a school like “Texas State”. Is that even a real school? Never heard of it. Feel bad for the Beavs…..having to get hyped that a school like that would join their conference. Now lets get Cal and Stanford to return and then we’re talking!

They are an up and coming school that has 40,000+ attendance numbers in the state of Texas. Its a bet they will continue to improve while also getting themselves into the Texas market. One of the best available choices out there since Nevada or UNLV didn't jump.

Update: I thought I heard Texas State was one of the most attended texas college but I was wrong. So I edited that part of my comment.

If this was the plan, it's a terrible plan. AD Scott Barnes seems like it was more important to save the Pac 8/10/12 than what is best for Oregon State.

There is no path to make the Pac a Power 5 conference again. This TV deal will not get them there, it will not happen in 2030.

OSU has a rich history of competing at the highest levels of college sports.

Sports have become professional like. The moment you lost Jonathan Smith, you should have fired your AD.

I say this as a Beaver fan. Beavers have a better history and fan base than the majority of the teams in the Big 12. OSU needed to market itself to that conference, not try to prop up the Pac with Mountain West and Sunbelt teams.

Beavers do a poor job of social media. During the Beavers amazing run in baseball, I was getting more live game info from Kerry Eggers than I was from Beavers Baseball's twitter account.

Beavers need to crush this new version of the Pac for a couple of seasons and then move quickly on to the Big 12.

    40k students, great college area.

Texas State is also the only Texas University to graduate a US president - LBJ went there and has a statue on campus.

Obviously they graduated a US Vice President as well.

I didn't say the Pac will be a power5 conference. I said it could be better that the other non power4 ones, so better than AAC/Sunbelt/Mountain west/big East/etc. That's just the reality the Beavs have been in the last few years. There's no power4 options. When the Pac folded the Beavers were never going to exit this transition without major damage.

Big12 has no interest in the Beavs, there's no prime TV markets, no Nike booster, no west coast teams. Even Standford and Cal couldn't get in there. If the Beavs could have got in the Big12 they would have done it.

Firing AD is going to help as much as firing Mike Riley made the football team dominant. Beavers just don't have the resources or TV markets the other former pac schools had. They were lucky to be in that conference.

Big12 media deal ends the same 2031 timeframe time as this new Pac one. So if the Beavs could jump to the Big12 this deal doesn't prevent that.

I highly doubt that's the case - more likely the Beavs/Pac will try to grab some extra schools in 2030 and aim to increase the TV contract then.

Sources: Texas State expecting offer to join Pac-12

    https://www.espn.com/college-football/story/_/id/45583703/texas-state-expecting-offer-join-pac-12

Texas State officials have informed the Sun Belt Conference that they are expecting an offer from the Pac-12 in the near future, sources told ESPN.

The talks between Texas State and the Pac-12 have intensified in the last 24 hours, per ESPN sources, although a formal offer from the Pac-12 to Texas State has yet to be delivered.

A formal offer is anticipated in the near future, per sources, as Texas State is in talks to join the league for the 2026-27 school year.

It'd be the next step in the courtship, which may not formally conclude until Monday because of the process required. To formally accept an offer upon receipt, Texas State would need to call a board of regents meeting, which requires 72 hours of notice to convene, per state of Texas open meeting laws.

Pac-12 officials have also alerted the Sun Belt of the talks with Texas State, per sources. Texas State has been the heavy favorite to join the league for months.

That anticipation has increased this week because Texas State's exit fee to join the Pac-12 for 2026 doubles from $5 million to $10 million on July 1. For formal board approval and to avoid the buyout, Texas State's invitation would have to come late this week.

Texas State would become the league's eighth football member, which the Pac-12 needs as a minimum to operate as an FBS conference. (There'd be nine overall, including Gonzaga.)

The Pac-12's football membership for 2026 consists of Oregon State, Washington State, Boise State, San Diego State, Colorado State, Utah State and Fresno State. Gonzaga doesn't sponsor football but also will be in the league.

Texas State is a school of 40,000 students that gives the Pac-12 a presence in the football-rich state of Texas. It joined the WAC in 2012 under coach Dennis Franchione and entered the Sun Belt a year later.

Texas State held a verbal offer in the fall to join the Mountain West but ultimately turned that down.

Texas State is coming off back-to-back bowl wins and an eight-win season under coach G.J. Kinne.

Is that all they were looking for…..enrollment numbers? I want schools that are prestigious and have a history of some sort. I would never tune in to see the Beavs BECAUSE they are playing this team.

As I said, they are an up and coming school. One of the best options to round out the pac.

Prestigious can mean a lot of different things.

The Ducks thought enough of one of their tackles to recruit them.
