Yeah, I know he is a rookie, but just look at how godawful his advanced stats are. He gets killed individually by his opponents and OKC, which is a winning team, has a negative scoring margin when he's on the court. He's a big man with a 40% FG% and a Bargnani like TRB% of 9.5%. He's one of the few big men in the league who has a worse PER than both Meyers Leonard and Noah Vonleh, but his name is Sabonis, so I guess that means he gets a free pass.

That's not completely accurate. We still owe them a 2020 top 55 protected 2nd rounder. Who knows, they could end up drafting the next Isaiah Thomas with that pick - and then trade him away for pennies on the dollar.

The biggest problem, from Portland's POV - is that Orlando is running out of assets to fleece.

If I was the ownership in Orlando, I would read that tweet and fire the GM immediately.

If I was the ownership in Orlando, I would sell the team before I do further damage to its market value.

The GM has been only part of the problem. The organization has been waffling back and forth between win now and go young for the last three seasons. The GM does what they tell him to do, then they change their mind. This is what happens when you have that level of indecision coming from the top of the organization. It's also why Scott Skiles bailed on them and left millions on the table.

They may not have a head case like Boogie Cousins to deal with, but as an organization, they may be even more dysfunctional than SAC.

Orlando was mediocre, took some risks, and is still mediocre. That's life in the NBA, you either need a lot of patience, or to take risks.

Post also completely ignores the salary cap. Not a well thought out post, just trying to rile people up.

I didn't follow Orlando very closely back in the 90s, but I watched the 30/30 on Netflix about the Shaq & Penny days. I had no idea that the Magic didn't outright pay Shaq. They low balled him, and he got a bigger offer from LA. They completely blew it. Worst organization ever.

I remember it well. They literally chased him out of town. They vilified him in the press before, during and after he left. First, he was the reason they got swept by HOU in the finals. Sure Hakeem had a great series, but he was one of the greatest centers of all time in the prime of his career (won the MVP the year before). Shaq was only 22, but still held his own against Hakeem (28.0 ppg, 12.5 rpg, 6.3 apg, 2.5 bpg). Yet the ORL management and press made him a scapegoat.

Then he was the greedy young player who was only concerned about money and not winning. Then when he was signed by the Lakers, he cared more about the shallow glamour of the Hollywood lifestyle than the good people or Orlando.

I have never been a huge Shaq fan, because I thought he could have been even better if he would have worked on his game in the off season (or at least stayed in shape), but I couldn't believe how stupid ORL was to run him out of town. They were dumb enough that they actually WANTED him to leave so they wouldn't have to pay him.

Well, and they pretty much ruined Penny's career because of how they handled this injuries.

Tobias Harris for Jennings and Ilyasova was by far the worst trade Orlando made anyway. What were they thinking? His $15M contract was not even that bad. Oladipo was also a good shooting guard for them, they only needed someone who can shoot next to him.

We got more value for Plums than ORL did for Ibaka.

    Whoa.

I'm finally at the point everyone else is: completely unrealistic trade, but it's Orlando so...you never know...
