34 points and 12 assists in season finale win. Can't run a team?

Going by the boxscore, Armon Johnson was the best Net in their season finale.

Tyson Chandler is the defensive player of the year. It's great that the guy is getting the respect he deserves. IMO he is the 3rd best center in the league.

D'Antoni still couldn't win with the defensive player of the year, one of the more clutch players in the league (Melo) and Amare.

    D'Antoni is sooooo overrated.

Ask Dallas about that. I'm not sure they agree.

Are we even sure Chandler should have won it?

Ibaka averaged 3.7 blks in 27min a game. That's insane.

Since blks were recorded, only two players (Bol/Mourning) have had a higher blk% in a season than Ibaka.

Not saying Iblocka should have won and was robbed, but damn...

A lot of Thunder fans will tell you that although Ibaka is a great weak-side shot blocker, he's not the best man defender. That's why he doesn't play more minutes (according to them). I don't get to see many games, so I don't have an opinion, just thought I'd pass that along though.

The only reason it didn't go to Dwight again was because of the PR shit that sunk his reputation this year. He is still the best center in the game and changes the way teams play more then any other player on the court.

I wouldn't mind seeing POR go after OJ Mayo in FA...I have a tough time seeing MEM match a big contract on him with the deals they are locked into with Gay, Randolph and Gasol...

and I think Mayo would like to move on to another team in a starting role...

I think Chandler is a better defender than Ibaka, the nuanced stats seem to support that.

Was he the best defensive player? I have no clue because this year it was so close.

What a fucking pass by Rondo to find Pierce in the corner for 3

I'd love to see hm next to Wesley and Batum

Mayo for what we would have to pay for him does not interest me at all. Would rather overpay Batum then overpay Mayo. Mayo has been playing very well of late but before that it has just been talk of unfulfilled potential. Half a season of great play by a guard who has had a chance for years does not interest me.
I should clarify that a bit. OJ Mayo on Mathews contract wouldn't be bad but i'd still rather have Mathews.

Well in all likely hood POR is going to overpay Batum anyhow and he will be the last signing to put them over the cap....

OJ Mayo is still young, he is likely wanting to move to a starting role and he is likely obtainable b\c of MEM current cap situation...and he will be probably cheaper to get than Eric Gordon....I'd still go after D-Will first...but if\when that becomes unlikely to occur...I think POR should try to sign Mayo and Dragic or Hill.....

Starting SG, starting PG...and then address a big in the draft

He will defiantly be cheaper then Gordan, those two aren't even on the same level at the moment.
I don't get the whole we need a starting SG thing. I know you under value Mathews because of what you'v said in other threads but OJ Mayo is a very feast or famine guy. He won't be the defender Mathews is and is a guy who likes to take a lot of shots, a perfect 6th man but SG is a position that is a luxury, we need a PG and C (or PF and move LA to C). The one guy you talked about that I find intriguing is Hill. He does play defense can actually be relied upon to make plays for others when the ball is in his hand (something Mathews can't do). I wouldn't mind throwing some money at Hill/Dragic if we lose out on Dwill.
