ESPN blog on the win by the Beavs. http://espn.go.com/blog/collegebasketballnation/post/_/id/51921/oregon-state-making-itself-believe Even if #9 Oregon State loses to Arizona, they still made the headlines for upsetting #1Washington (pac 12 standings) and setting themselves up for a NIT bid? This could help on recruits with this success with AC Green, Payton and Brent Barry in the picture.
No BCS conference regular season champion has ever missed the NCAA tournanment. This could be the first for sure. Romar does nothing with so much talent. There's 2, possibly 3 NBA players on that team. Pac-12 basketball is in a sad state of affairs.
That would have been cool. I was watching the gamecast at work yesterday and will have all eyes glued to the game today. Would love to see the Beavs make it to the dance. It's only been 20 years since they have been there. All my Seattle coworkers are pretending that they didn't care about the game. Typical Seattle -- very fickle. Everyone's already got an eye towards the Peyton Manning watch and the start of Spring baseball.
I'm definitely disappointed with our season this year and won't be surprised if we miss the NCAA's, but you do know we have something like 7 Freshman and 1 Senior on the team. I don't think many people realized how much losing IT was going to hurt the team. He is killing it for the Kings right now and having him on the team would have changed everything. And, I don't think Romar gets enough credit in his development of players. I think that is his best strength (it's obviously not his X's & O's). Plus, we were expected to finish 3rd or 4th in the Pac (behind Oregon in some) at the start of the season. But yeah, the Pac-12 is sad this year.
Thats the problem with UW fans when it comes to Romar. Every year it another excuse why they underachieved. I remember the Hawes year and they had to play in the CBI. Everybody still made an excuse for Romar. He's no better than Ernie Kent was IMO.
