I don't think there is anything at all wrong in pointing out that Griner may have more natural testosterone than the average woman. That seems pretty reasonable, and to ignore it seems naive to me. Is it wrong to point out that Caster Semenya has higher natural testosterone than the women she competes against?

I certainly don't think she was born a man, but I do think she has a higher level of testosterone than most women. Nothing wrong with that.

People make fun of Mike Tyson's squeaky voice all the time, yet it's wrong to have some fun with Griner's deep voice?

How does that double standard compute?

Was it a length thing? Like J. Bayless's arm measurements? (HCP-Rex)

What double standard? Making fun of the sound of his voice is not the same as questioning his gender by calling him "she" or "it" - the last one is especially cold. Nobody should ever be called "it".

Does that compute, or do you require further explanation?

I didn't call her a guy or an 'it'. Did anybody call her an 'it' in this thread? I do think she looks a bit like Tayshaun Prince in terms of body, though, and that 2-handed dunk was impressive. Maybe next time, you should directly address those who you meant with you post. Since I started the thread, I assumed you were addressing me.

After HCP in post #2 called her an it, you may be able to understand the ease with which one confuses your it with HCP's type of it. I'll give you the benefit of the doubt, but seriously, even I thought you were calling her an it.

    Did I say you did?

Um yeah, HCP did in the very first response to your original post.

Maybe you shouldn't make assumptions. Did I quote you in my original post? No, I didn't. If I didn't quote you and you didn't refer to Griner as "he" or "it" why would you assume I was addressing you?

My only response to you was in reference to your flippant double standard comment comparing making fun of the sound of someone's voice to questioning their gender. In order to understand the full context of my response, you need to go back and re-read my entire original post - not just the part you quoted. My beef in general, is not with you. It's with people calling Griner "he" or "it". That's cold and insensitive and it's NOT the same as making fun of the sound of someone's voice.

Actually, I didn't think PapaG called her an it. My original comment didn't quote him and wasn't directed at him. Several people referred to Griner as "he", "him", "that dude", "that guy" and even "it". Rather than quote them all, my original post was directed at them collectively.

My only response to PapaG was questioning his double standard comment with regard to Mike Tyson's voice.

Kathleen Turner has always had a very deep, husky voice, but she was totally hot back in the day (think Body Heat, not Californication). In addition to Mike Tyson, Chris Tucker has the highest pitched voice I have ever heard from a guy.

This isn't directed at you specifically, just pointing out that the tone of someone's voice isn't necessarily a function of their gender. There are totally hot, very feminine women with deep voices and macho, tough guys with high pitched voices.

I'm not, I think it's hot! I'm not a voicist. Some of my best friends have voices.
