If he's available I'd be happy to root for a reformed Stack Jack.

You guys really don't think he would wear out his welcome in a year and a half. (MAX!) Not just the fans but the coches and players too? He would be a short term fix. We can do better.

I like Steven Jackson and with a strong coach like Nate and a system in place thats working he can only help this team. Kevin Prichard loves players who can play multiple positions and Jackson can play 3 different positions, I don't think we'll need him at PF like GS. That said I think we may be able to get him for Outlaw and Frye, GS needs to upgrade their front line and Frye is a 3 point threat at the center position (in Nelly's system) and Outlaw gives them the PF shooter to replace Harrington. Outlaw will flourish under Nelly's system.

    Portland Trades:
Travis Outlaw, Channing Frye, 1st rounder 2009, 2nd rounder 2009 (warriors always find tallent late in the draft and like multiple picks)

    Portland Recieves:
    Steven Jackson

I get that Nellie can be a dick, but........

"According to sources, Jackson, Nelson's staunchest ally in the lockerroom, was called into Nelson's car when he showed up for the team's shootaround before facing Orlando. Nelson apparently told Jackson he was playing poorly and Jackson, who had been fighting through injuries to stay on the court, was so upset he skipped the shootaround. Jackson denied any lingering conflict, but he has since decided not to play until his injuries heal."

Jackson is another Rod Strickland IMO.

i'm flabbergasted. SJ would be my pick for the single most overrated player in the entire league right now, plus he's 30 with what appear to be degrading offensive skills and on the books for 4.5 more years. i would literally rather just burn 8 million a year and keep playing webster/batum/outlaw than trade for him.

#1) There are huge PR issues with him. Yes in his past. So are Rasheed's. Don't see many suggest that we bring him to town. Past PR issues aren't as bad as current, but this team still needs to stay away from that thing for a while yet, unless you are talking grade A talent to make it worth the risk. Jackson does not qualify on that count.

#2) He isn't that good. He has a lot of talent. A lot of skills. Can do virtually everything well. But, the fact is he doesn't do enough, consistently enough, for you to want to hang your hat on him as a team anchor and a guy that will help you win lots of games.

#3) He CAN play D. Well, at least he did in San Antonio and Indiana. But, that was a long time ago. He hasn't played much D recently.

#4) He is an inefficient scorer.

Masbee is not interested in Stephen Jackson. I would rather have Gerald Wallace. More efficient scorer. Better slasher. Much better rebounder. Excellent defender now, not in his distant past. Just doesn't have the outside shot and passing of Jackson.

Jackson's defense was critical in stopping Dirk in the playoff series they won a couple of years back. He's a big body in a similar mold to Artest, and can play a bit of PF if needed.

I think Jackson's attitude is exactly what this team needs when other teams are pushing us around, just like the Nugs in Denver and the Celtics in Boston. We need quit being such pussies out there sometimes and just nut it up and get aggressive.

But, his contract is too long, he just hit 30, and who knows where his head would be at once his skills totally decline and he starts riding the pine.

When Jackson is playing on a contender, he's the real deal. When he's on a lottery team... not so much. I don't know, I think you can get toughness without getting a headcase. To my knowledge, Bill Laimbeer never climbed into the stands or committed any off-court slip ups. He was just a dick on the court. We need a couple of those. Guys who are just tough. Joel and Bayless are really the only two guys on our team that I would want backing me up in a fight.

Right with you here. Ellis is a GREAT kid (except when he lied about his injury), and him and roy in the backcourt would make it the best in the NBA.... that would be sick... playing alongside Roy, I think Ellis could turn into a Parker/Harris type player.

I'd pretty much give anyone up outside of our Big 2, then Oden and probably Przybilla for Ellis.

Except Ellis would def. get the "He's not a PG!" comments from some of our fans. :) I still think he'd be great playing next to Roy, just like Bayless would be, imo. But Ellis is kinda what you hope for Bayless, except you want more PG skills from JayBay... but Ellis is like, what, 22?

Damn... Ellis would be nice next to Roy. All he does is get to the rim which is what we need... very similar to tony parker except like 4-5 years younger.

If we bring Ellis here the national media is going to call the team the Portland trail-vespas.

I would love to get Ellis but out of all the contracts that they signed in the offseason, he was the only good one. Maybe if we took Magette or Jackson off their hands while giving them Bayless, 2009 1st rounder, RLEC, Frye, & Outlaw. I'm too lazy to see if the numbers work, but of course we are mainly giving them cap relief, a good prospect in Bayless, Frye who could be good in Nellie's system, and Outlaw who is who he is.

    Hello darkness, my old friend
Biedrins was an excellent contract, as well. He's young (22) and already posting over 20 PER. Biedrins and Ellis were two very nice building blocks to lock up. If Wright and/or Randolph materialize into star-level players, the Warriors may be a pretty scary team in a couple of years.

I'd be amazed if the Warriors traded either Ellis or Biedrins. I think they'd happily sell on Jackson or Maggette. But I'm not that interested in either of those two players.

Yeah I really don't see the Warriors trading Ellis. He was the reason why Baron was expendable.

I'm surprised it took 13 replies before the obvious answer appeared here.

People act like we're a cellar-dwellar in desperate straights still.

No, we don't. Some of us view it as a chance to improve. Once again, a person comes along and tells us how we are thinking. I am so glad there are so many telepaths on this board to read our minds, and tell everybody what we are thinking. How would we get along without them. :devilwink:

Thank you!!! I cannot believe that anyone on this forum is really suggesting the possibility of getting that loser on our team.

Good Lord, you people need to get your heads checked.
