Did you really post this? How the hell are you going to tell people how they feel about it? So everyone that posted about how outraged they are is lying? You must have never experienced racism before...

    Hahahahahaha!

Donald Sterling's wife came out swinging ... saying she does NOT share the racist views of her husband.

Shelly Sterling says "Our family is devastated by the racist comments made by my estranged husband. My children and I do not share these despicable views or prejudices."

Shelly goes on ... "We will not let one man's small-mindedness poison the spirit of the fans and accomplishments of the team in the city we love."

And Shelly says, "We are doing everything in our power to stand by and support our Clippers team."

Shelly was at Sunday's playoff game and is flying back with the team tonight. Donald, on the other hand, was persona non grata at the game.

It's worth noting ... Shelly has been estranged from Donald for years. She retained attorney Laura Wasser several months ago to file a civil lawsuit against Donald's GF V. Stiviano. Wasser is a top divorce lawyer, so it seems divorce is imminent.

We're told the last straw in the marriage was when Donald and Shelly's adult son died of an overdose more than a year ago, and Shelly felt he was more interested in Stiviano than grieving with the family.

When I heard Sterling make those comments about providing food, houses, etc, I immediately thought of this.

As I stated, this whole mess was leaked because Shelly Sterling filed that lawsuit against Stiviano for the gifts Donald gave her. She's just playing damage control to protect her rep in her social circle among other stuckup golddigging Beverly Hills housewives. These Beverly Hills bitches are all the same. They think they're being proactive but they make the dumbest fucking decisions ever and it wrecks havoc on their husbands careers.

She's apparently trying to get power of attorney over the team in the event of any suspension. You can take it from there. Don't think she's going to get anything or control of the team.
The fact that this tape leaker is still only known as "V. Stiviano" is basically telling you that her PR team is swiftly crafting the news as she wants and they're keeping her protected to get further information soon.

Who gives a shit? He's an old man that was raised in a different time.

I was suprised at all the hoopla after actually hearing his comments. I was expecting an N-bomb laced tirade in a public forum. Instead it was a private comment to his wife. The thing struck me as more weird than anything. Like an old white man paranoid of a black dude possibly banging his wife. lol!

Shit, my chat logs make Sterling look like the Pope. I'm sure "locker room talk" is no different.

The New York Times ran a good back story on Sterling.

Don't tell me "he was raised in different times". My father is 93, 13 years older than Sterling, and he is not a racist. (As a young man, he taught at Highlander Folk School, where they had to take turns standing guard against the KKK because the school was integrated, but that's another story.)

Exit strategy for NBA, Donald Sterling: Sell Clippers to Magic Johnson

For all these despicable revelations tumbling out of the hateful heart of Donald Sterling, there promises construction of a roadmap to redemption for the Los Angeles Clippers and the NBA. There's a way out for the most hated man in Los Angeles now, a way out for the commissioner's office and the owners responsible for long legitimizing and harboring a bigot and slumlord.

Magic Johnson and his billionaire backers, the Guggenheim Partners, want a chance to purchase the Los Angeles Clippers, league sources told Yahoo Sports. "Magic's absolutely interested," one source closely connected to Johnson's business interests told Yahoo Sports on Sunday night.

To bail themselves out of the NBA's worst crisis of credibility since the Tim Donaghy officiating scandal, the easy part for the NBA will be enlisting the eagerness and financial muscle of Magic Johnson and Mark Walter of the Guggenheim Partners – owners of the Los Angeles Dodgers.

For commissioner Adam Silver, the chance to turn the Clippers over to Magic Johnson and his partners is the best possible of solutions. Exit Sterling, enter Magic. It would be the greatest trade in sports ownership history since, well, Magic for the McCourts, with the Dodgers.

Magic Johnson is the ultimate cleanser in sports, and steering a Clippers sale to him could be transformative for the franchise. Truth be told, it could change the balance of basketball power in Los Angeles forever. To keep Doc Rivers as president and coach, to hold together the core of a championship contender and keep building it, Magic can make it happen.

Make no mistake: Magic's Dodgers group is angling for a Southern California sports empire. Magic Johnson and Guggenheim had been aggressive in pursuing a purchase of the Los Angeles Lakers – only to have the Buss family make clear to them the franchise isn't for sale, sources told Yahoo Sports.
Nevertheless, this is business and Magic's willing to change colors and make himself a Clipper. Between the Dodgers and Clippers, Magic Johnson could be the face of two championship contenders.

    Magic could have it all.

"This is 100 percent Magic's plan," a league official intimately involved in the buying and selling of franchises told Yahoo Sports.

As an exit strategy, Sterling could walk away with a $1 billion-plus sales price for his franchise, and a final act of goodwill to soften his exile into the sports netherworld. Sterling will be reviled forever, but he has to understand clearing the way for Magic Johnson and the $200 billion-plus group backing him could be a decent farewell punctuating a most indecent ownership tenure. Sterling made Magic Johnson a part of those hideous audio tapes that have started to crumble his Clippers ownership, and here's the old man's way to make it right.

After all, he has little choice left. Sterling will never be able to sit courtside for a Clippers game again, never be able to march through his locker room glad-handing players. All the reasons Sterling has loved owning an NBA team, well, they're all gone.

Across the league now, owners want Sterling out. They should've done so years ago, but understand every franchise will now pay a price for failing to remove Sterling. Finally, they're pushing Silver to find a way. These owners are on the clock, and they know it.

"If the owners can't force [Sterling] to sell, they need to be held accountable to change the bylaws so they can," one member of the NBA's Board of Governors told Yahoo Sports on Sunday. "A fine and suspension is meaningless, and that'll be seen as a lack of acceptance that the league and owners are responsible for this ass----."

The Dodgers group is serious about owning an NBA team, and the league knows it. Together, they arranged for Johnson and the Guggenheim Partners to purchase the WNBA's cash-strapped Los Angeles Sparks in February. The league office needed someone to spare it the embarrassment of the WNBA's flagship franchise folding, and Magic and Guggenheim bailed it out. This hadn't been born out of a sense of benevolence, but rather a pragmatic move to deeper ingratiate themselves with the NBA.
So Sunday, Johnson goes on national television and tells everyone: Donald Sterling should lose the Clippers. He's right. The NBA will move to suspend Sterling in the short-term and turn its army of lawyers onto a way to force Sterling into a sale. Magic Johnson could always see the court, the next play, and it's unfolding now. It won't be easy. It won't be tidy.

For now, it's the ultimate escape plan for the NBA, the ultimate exit for Donald Sterling. Magic Johnson wants the Clippers, and it could change Los Angeles basketball – change the NBA – forever.

In September 2004, while he was a Clippers assistant, Hughes was diagnosed with prostate cancer. He was premed at Wisconsin, so he had an idea what he was up against. His doctor told him that he could wait a few months for surgery, but the team was preparing for training camp and he didn't want to miss a chunk of the season recuperating. So Hughes went for a second opinion and found a doctor who would do the surgery a week later.

"But he wasn't covered under my insurance plan," Hughes told ESPNLosAngeles.com. "We had a certain group of doctors we could go to. So if I elected to use him, it'd be out of my pocket.

"[The Clippers] didn't talk to me directly about it. They told, I believe my agent, that the reason they couldn't pay for the surgery is if they paid for mine, if anybody else had a problem -- head coach, secretary, assistant coach -- if they paid for mine, the onus would be on them for everybody else.

I have largely ignored this entire story. I have seen enough racial discrimination of blacks, Asians, Hispanics, and yes even against whites.

There is just one thing that feels too "ironic" and I think it should be looked into.... not ready to call this a conspiracy yet, but I think it should be looked into before they sell the team to anyone.

This recording is totally a set up, Sterling was baited into making many of the comments. That doesn't make anything he said "right" or make him less of a racist.

I found it perplexing that Sterling asked his girlfriend to stop associating/promoting Magic... And now Magic shows up stating that he wants to buy the team as a lead investor. It just REALLY seems odd. He obviously would have a vested interest to "set up" Sterling and try to get the NBA to forces Sterling to sell the team.

Fascinating point, and one that will likely not be investigated even a little bit.

Bomani Jones was on the Dan Patrick show this morning commenting on this story, and he made a point about Sterling (and all the owners, apparently): "Nobody becomes a billionaire by being a nice guy." I wonder if the same can/should be said about Magic.

That young beautiful mixed race woman is being sued by Mrs. Sterling for (IIRC) several million dollars. Pretty sure that love is not involved in any way, shape, or form.

If the NBA forces Sterling to sell the team, it's really no big deal for him. He's 80years old and will get a huge 700 mil payday from the sale. He can say F-U N***ers and soak the sun in the Bahamas until he dies. But what he can do is sue that ex of his for even more money. Maybe even get her arrested for Black Mail and face up to 1 year in jail.

The only people getting hurt by this is the Clipper fans and NBA players.

This girl has more audiotape and would probably sell her story to the highest bidder. This is the last thing he should do. He needs to try to drop the lawsuit (although its his wife's lawsuit but he can not cooperate in it) and pay her hush money to go away.
