Howard, who wore No. 12 during his eight seasons with Orlando, told the Orlando Sentinel that he is disappointed the Magic granted Tobias Harris' request to wear the number.

"I just think that despite whatever happened, there was a lot of things that I did and that we did as a team, and that number was special down there," Howard told the Sentinel. "And I was a little bit upset about that."

I got tickets for his first game back in LA. This should be dope. haha.

The early part of the article is about his 8 Orlando years. Inevitably, the Laker-centric media turns most of the article toward his 1 Laker year.

Maybe he was a punk to the Magic, but he is our hero in teaching Laker fans some humility.

Do something worth having your number retired.

Isn't he in the top 3 Magic players in history? I can only think of (top of my head) 2 others arguably better: Penny and Shaq.

Girl listen, I want to break up with you. Whoa, whoa you mean after I broke up with you, you found another guy?! WTF BITCH!? -DHo as a teen.

Shaq punked the Magic, but he had no qualms like Howard, so it didn't drag on. Howard interprets Christianity to be an avoidance of decisiveness.

Tracy McGrady had his best years in Orlando. didn't lead them anywhere though.

But it's interesting we're ripping on a player who is complaining about his #, when people here went ape-shit about the prospect of Watson wearing #7

I don't think Brandon complained, iirc.

Go Blazers

I will forever admire Dwight Howard for dumping the Lakers. He was the first "super-star" to do that, and for that reason he will always have a soft spot in my heart.

Otherwise, he's a jerk.

Yeah. I fucking love him for doing it even though he's a douche.

We can probably thank Kome for that.

No, I think he's saying that the fans went apeshit over someone else wearing #7. (It was Mo though, not Watson)

I think Portland is different though... Orlando is within spitting distance of three NFL teams, two MLB teams, one other NBA team, and one? NHL team. We just have the Blazers and now the Timbers. People here freak out about a lot of things that most cities wouldn't give a shit about.

I think the biggest problem I see with Howard is he wants all the attention, yet doesn't know what to do with pressure. I think this maybe a problem in Houston as well. The playoffs maybe a huge problem for the Rockets. I don't see Howard in the same light as the other great centers. He just is too immature and primadonna to be a player you can count on.

Jack Kent Cooke stiffed Wilt Chamberlain on his new contract after 2 straight Finals years, including 1 championship.

So Wilt jumped to the ABA San Diego Conquistadores as player-coach.

Laker fans have forgotten, but I haven't.

I don't think it's a case of Laker fans forgetting, as much as most Laker fans didn't know that happened, or that Wilt even played on the Lakers. Or who Jack Kent Cooke was for that matter.

I think it's more than never knowing. I think even the graybeards who followed the team in 1973 fall for the dogma that no big star had ever dumped the Lakers till Howard. They have been so indoctrinated over the years that they forgot. So they fail to pass on that bit of history to the young, who thus never know. It's forgetting for the old, not never knowing, due to Official Laker History erasing unpleasant thoughts.

Repped. I think that Howard wants superstar attention but doesn't deliver like a superstar. Even the real aholes (Exhibit a: kobe bryant) delivered in the clutch.

I think we were so spoiled by star centers in the 80's and 90's that someone like Dwight just doesn't live up to the standard.

Hakeem
Shaq
David Robinson
Ewing

I'm sure I'm forgetting a few just off the top of my head, but Dwight looks like a giant bowl of steaming shit compared to those guys.

True, but by then Chamberlain was at the end of his career. And he didn't even play for the Conquistadores. After one season of coaching, he retired. Dwight Howard is going to be the first super-star to leave the Lakers and then haunt them for a few years as a player, maybe even winning an NBA title with another team.

Yes, D-Ho is a D-Douche. Yet, I hope Howard knocks the Lakers out of the playoffs. How sweet would that be?

In order to have your number retired, don't you have to BE retired???? Has any active NBA player ever had their number retired? Seems a bit premature for Dwight to talk about having his number retired while he's still an active player.

As sweet as it would be to have Portland make the playoffs and not the Lakers. Dwight used to be a pretty chill dude. I just don't think he has the maturity to deal with scrutiny. He was great as long as everyone loved him.
