Diop may not have had a huge impact in that game, but you neglect that Bass didn't either. Bass is not suited to be a backup center, plain and simple. He's undersized and he'll get pummeled by the bigger guys he'll play. At least Diop can hold his ground. Also, you only addressed how he did offensively. Why not look at his defense while you're at it? In the game Duncan was in, he went for 24/5 on 11/21 shooting. I realize not all of that was given up by Bass, but he still clearly gave up some of it. The fact of the matter is that, while Bass may be able to produce offensively, as size isn't as much of an issue (note Elton Brand, Carlos Boozer, etc.), but it's the defensive end. He has to be able to stop people. And quite frankly, at 6'8" and 230lbs, he's going to have issues doing that.
