Help me out geeks. I'm making my decision today. The ONLY thing Comcast has going for it is the Blazer games. I work for the damn team and my wife and son can't even watch the games! Help me boys!

Screw Comcast. Their outrageous prices and holding the Blazers hostage is the final nail in the coffin. I will NEVER support Comcast again.

I've had both, and my experience as a 5 year Comcast customer was a neverending increase of rates.

DirecTV has many more HD channels as well, so if you have a HDTV that is something else to consider.

    Ha I run Dish!

IMO though I would stay away from Comcast. Satellite=Superior.

    Blazers take priority, go comcast.

Stick with Dish, and get a slingbox... There is no way that Dish won't have a deal with NBA TV they will loose too many subscribers.

The decision matrix needs more information.

What are you used to with your current TV service in terms of picture quality, programming and equiptment?

What upgrades or downgrades do you want in any of that, including HD, DVR etc.

How important are the Blazer games?

    What is your TV budget?

How many TV's? And how many can use an HD signal?

    What about movie channels?

NFL Ticket (on DirecTV only)? etc.

Will you owe anything if you dump your current provider?

Do you have high speed internet (that isn't Comcast), and would you be willing to do the Triple Play, which is TV, Phone and Internet?

Reason is that the best deals offered by Comcast are given if you switch all three services at once, though they have an ok TV only deal right now.

The thing about Comcast TV is there is little commitment. If you hate the service, cancel and get something else.

Or you could take it Comcast, order basic cable ch. 1-32 and after they leave remove the filter and save $30 a month... Just Saying...

I have been a Directv customer for 10+ years. Last week I had Comcast installed in addition to my directv (just to get the blazers). I sold my soul, I know. Anyway. This is my wifes comments: "I don't know why anyone who has ever had Directv would get comcast. The picture is horrible. The menus are even worse." I can't help but agree. Directv has a really good interface, the hardware is top notch and they are constantly upgrading to make it better. The picture quality on this last Blazer game was almost unwatchable on CSNW. You can get a better picture over the net. I absolutely would not CHOOSE comcast over Directv, ever. Get directv and (have your family ) watch the games on your pc. I did it all of last season, really wasn't bad. That's my humble opinion. Good luck. Let us know what you choose.

I'd like to correct that Directv does have on demand. You have to connect your box to the net for it to work though, I believe. It's pretty cool actually. Check out dbstalk.com for a ton of Directv info. Hope it's ok to reference another site.

Is that from experience? I don't get a lot of bad weather in my area (SoCal), but have never had a weather drop out. OTOH, my former cable was out regularly. My dad has DirecTV in SW Washington, and he has never complained about drop outs.

I have comcast. I hate it. However, I get Blazer games and some Duck games I otherwise would not have.

    I hate comcast.

However, I like the ability to tune channels without needing a box (ie. I run home theater pc's). That means Comcast is a must.

Also, everytime I priced DirecTV, I found that once the promo prices disappear, their full price (which they are great at hiding from you) isn't dissimilar to Comcast.

Also, until late next year, there's no Tivo for DirecTV, and there's never Tivo for Dish. Tivo does have CableCARD to get full hidef PVR from Comcast.

So I hate Comcast. And I'm still using them.

Well thanks for the help Jerky Boys! Just made the switch to Direct. I loved Dish, but if they have no league pass, they have no HCP!!!!! Got the HD DVR and regular DVR. They now have OnDemand and this cool service called DVR Scheduler. I can go online and control what my DVR records. I'm on the road a lot and that is a cool feature! My wife will have to go without seeing the blazer games, unless you guys need a date. She is HOT and very easy!(see picture) Just buy her a couple beers. She says she'll make out with you if she gets into a suite! -Peace!

I forgot about the remote scheduler! I have scheduled recordings from my cell phone many times. It's a great feature. About your wife... Uhhh... nevermind.
