the thunder absolutely stink right now, but they could be set up nicely for a coach to come in and endure a few losing seasons before turning it around. desmond mason and joe smith will be dealt for more draft picks by the deadline, the are loaded with draft picks. jordan would be a good fit there.
A couple of comments-- (1) From what I've seen, over the past two games or so, the Nets have been better at contesting three-point shots. Unfortunately, they have still gone in. (2) Let's leave the three-point shots out of it for a sec. Just focusing on shot attempts inside the arc, the Nets' are holding the opposition to the 15th lowest (or highest, I guess) FG%. They are just four-tenths of one percent away from the ninth best. That's not horrible, and will get better over the next few months as the team gets more used to playing together. I can accept horrible perimeter defense, if the Nets become one of the top interior defensive teams in the league. (3) In addition to the three-point shots, one major reason why they are allowing so many points is that they are committing the most personal fouls (25.6). League average is around 21-22. If they could get down to the league average, that would make a difference of roughly five points a game. Think about it; that is HUGE. If they could do that, the poor perimeter defense would not be as important. They surrender 22.3 three-point shots per game, and the opposition makes 9.3 of them. Lowering the number of personal fouls to the league average would have the same effect as if they surrendered just 7.8 three-pointers instead of 9.3 (roughly). That would be a 35% shooting percentage which would be GREAT. My point: Stop bitching about the perimeter defense, just focus on the fouls, which is easier, and the effect will be the same.
That is questionable. He still makes the same mistakes whether it is with a young group or a veteran group. We could easily been 5-7(VC Missed 3 pt shot), 8-4 or 4-8. We are what we are everytime is year, .500 or less. Clearly, there is a common denominator.
wtf... his team was OVER ACHIEVING thanks to him. Jesus christ this business is messed up. I hope wizards get the worst record in the league and end up getting screwed in the draft... The only reason they did so well was thanks to Eddie Jordan's offense and his teaching. Messed up business.
That is the stupidest thing i've read in a long time, no offense. The team is filled with young kids who will make mistakes. They have only three players who were in training camp last season. Experts all predicted a season of 20-something wins. They've beaten several top teams. A couple of their losses have been to top teams that they'd have no business beating. This despite several key injuries. For the first time, the roster is filled with players the Coach wants, and who can produce and contribute the way he wants. He is developing some of the kids. The vets are not complaining about playing time. He prepares the team well, and is building an identity. They play hard, play together, and don't play selfishly. They are expected to be a doormat and they are a borderline playoff team. What more do you want?
Yeah I honestly can't picture the team playing that much better than they are right now, given the players on the team.
It's not a matter of the coach enduring, it's a matter of the owner enduring. Owners, for some reason, think their team should always be competitive, and if they're not, than it's the coaches fault. In reality, the coach can only control so much and doesn't really control the assembly of the roster, which is usually why a team is bad. Good coaching can only take a bad team so far.
As for this...this didn't come as a shock. The Wizards have been awful, but it's not their fault that their franchise player is out until January and that their starting center is out for the year. Things happen that are out of a coaches control, and that's really the case with the Wizards. The coach just happens to be a scapegoat more often than not.
I just saw this and this is probably the dumbest move a GM. As pissed as I am, many team are going to come calling, teams like Minnesota, Oklahoma, Memphis, Atlanta and even Denver should give Eddie jordan a chance.
