Stockton all time leader in assist and steals. He's had 5 of the top 6 assist seasons of all time. Look at his stats. Insane. Sure, he couldn't beat Jordan but either could Magic.

Nash should at least be mentioned in the "top ten" conversation but not in the "greatest of all-time" discussions. A statistically prolific, system-oriented point guard that played no defense?

He has the MVP's to his name, but I think most people take his MVP's with a grain of salt when looking at his legacy. Realistically, Kidd should have more MVP's than Nash. It's almost as if Nash's MVP's were make-up calls for the media completely fucking up the 2002 MVP voting for Jason Kidd. That's probably the most blatant MVP oversight of the modern era, and even in 2003, Kidd had a better case for the MVP than Nash did either of his seasons.

It's almost like Kidd paved the way for Nash to get the MVP's that Kidd truly deserved.

Only playing one side of the floor shouldn't even get you Top 10 mention, IMO. He's great at what he does (did?), but he's not Top 10. I don't think anybody would argue that Rondo is Top 10, and he's a better basketball player than Nash ever was.

Depends on what you want or need from a PG. The Big O was probably the most complete and brought the most overall value to a team. If you want pure PG skills I can see Stockton. If you want a watered down mixture of the two who is more versatile and a match up problem them you might say Magic.

If I were putting together an all-time great NBA team that would actually play, I'd really consider Steve Nash for the starting PG position, because on a good team you'd really want a great floor general and shooter, and Nash is one of the best of all time in those catagories. But there have been so many good PGs in league history.

Stockton had some great shooting years as well

    Nash/Stockton
    Jordan/Drexler
    Johnson/Pippen
    Bird/Duncan
    Sabonis/Olajuwon

Hands down the best PG ever was Magic.

    Stockton<<<<Nash

Stockton actually played Defense (all time steals leader). You have to hide Nash on D.

For my money, Isaiah Thomas in his prime was the best I've seen.
