you're nitpicking. In a 3-Tier system, Miami with it's weather, taxes, .... is Tier 1, Portland is Tier 3. So, this could indeed be gloom and doom for the Tier 3 cities like PDX. Perhaps, more to the point, this underscores the fact that Tier 3 cities must build through the draft, while Tier 1 cities can simply clear cap space.

I don't know why they let Mike go. They look like they are working without a plan.

Del Harris is available. Dig his bones up from the grave.

I disagree. Miami is the Hawaii of the Atlantic seaboard, because you don't need a passport or to go through customs. It's like going to Hawaii for those of us on the west coast.

Who will want to coach that current cluster bomb?

Maybe in a season or two they'll entice a big time name.

Well, then I prob would have been kissing Mike's ass. He still wanted to coach and coach them.

They may as well name Kobe Bryant player/coach, because he's going to be running the team unless an elite coach who he trusts (Coach K????) is brought in out of the blue.

Clear cap space by getting their star players to opt out and re-sign for less money. This is not the same as a large market team that can just say fuck the salary cap, we can pay the penalties.

If you can get star players to take far less than max money any team can do exactly what Miami is doing. They are not using the advantages of a large market franchise. I'm not saying that Miami isn't a very attractive place to play. They are but Lebron and Bosh joined Wade to win championships, the beach life was an added bonus. Riley runs a damn good organization.

This seems to be more talk then actual fact. Its been rumored for awhile but what would they all have to take to get it done, 13m starting salaries?

Miami should sign Darko too. THEN they would have a Big 5. By the way, I have no problem with this if it happens. The wouldn't be breaking any rules and it's not the NBA saying anything, it's the PLAYERS saying we care about winning and are willing to take less to play together. That's a good thing, to me. What Phil Jackson should be doing is getting Wade, LeBron, and Bosh to come to NY for less money.

The state and local income taxes in NYC are much higher than they are in Florida. There is no state income tax in Florida. James doesn't need any more exposure; he's saturated in terms of how much more he could make in NYC. And please, nobody bring up David Lee's alleged $5m local endorsement money as a Knick. That never happened, yet seems to pop up from time to time on this board.

Any move that makes LeBron a spectator on offense and hurts their defense........I am all for. I hope they sign Melo.

Chris Bosh denied an ESPN report indicating that the Miami Heat have already begun discussing adding Carmelo Anthony in the offseason.

Bosh said that it has never been discussed amongst himself, LeBron James and Dwyane Wade.

“I think that’s very, very unlikely,” Bosh said.

The four players would have to take substantial paycuts.

But Udonis Haslem doesn’t believe adding Carmelo is that far-fetched.

“It doesn’t seem unrealistic,” he said today. “There was a time nobody would have thought you could put this team together, with those guys taking pay cuts, and even myself taking a paycut. You can never say never."
