That was definitely a weird interaction. Never thought he’d become one of my favorite players.

Speaking of my Lakers, our new free agent LJ was at the fight last night down here in Vegas. Just saw that they are on National Television 43 times!

All the more reason to finally cut the cord and give up my cable subscription. The only things I've watched on cable the last 4 months were the college world series and the Blazers summer league games.

You’re trying to tell me that you aren’t at all interested in seeing Bron play for the Lakers. I’m excited to see him battle it out with all these power teams in the West. They are nowhere near challenging the top teams, but I’m still pumped. Opening night is going to be a blast!

I will be interested in seeing him fail but that is it. Father time is undefeated. Magic waiting at least a year to bring him help is going to backfire.

Sure, I'll watch him on opening night, but only because he's playing against the Blazers.

Otherwise, meh. I've already seen LeBron at his best, and don't get me wrong, the way he led that dysfunctional team in CLE to the finals last year was classic LeBron.

But that was in the East with a veteran, playoff tested team around him. Now with the Lakers, he is surrounded by a bunch of over the hill cast offs and young kids who have no idea how to win in the NBA. Of course, LeBron will make them much better, but his road to the finals will be much tougher (impossible). Last year he beat a young IND team, but it took 7 games. He beat a TOR team that he has mentally owned for years and then another 7-game series against a injury depleted BOS squad, only to be swept in the finals when he had to play against a real team.

Even if the Lakers do make the playoffs, they will squeak in as the 7th or 8th seed and will likely be swept in the first round. This years Lakers remind me of the CLE team LeBron played for during his second season in the league. That team went 43-39 and missed the playoffs, about what I expect for this LAL team playing in a very competitive Western Conference. LeBron was great that second year in CLE, but the rest of that team was absolute shit. The difference was, watching LeBron was still exciting because it was new. This year, without the newness, it will just be the LeBron we've already seen surrounded by a bunch of shitty players who wouldn't even start on most other teams in the West. I find that more boring than exciting.

I know you know that most of us Blazer fans hate the Lakers, so this isn’t news heh. I’m sort of interested if Lebron can take that team anywhere in the west, he’s been criticized a lot because of how crappy the east has been. So to that extent yeah I guess it’ll be ‘interesting’.
Opening night should be a lot of fun.
I’m both excited and ready for the regular season and frustrated that I think it’s going to end the same as the last few years have.
I guess that’s good for you though, early summer and all that heh.

That’s what makes this so cool. He isn’t joining a dynasty already like KD or going to play with his friends like Melo in Houston. This time he chose a destination rather than a team. I think he wanted a challenge and he’s going to get it for sure.

I think what makes it so cool for you is also that he went to the Lakers! Not saying that takes away all your other reasons out, but say he went to Charlotte or something, would be saying that?
I respect Lebron, and I respect his decision to go to LA he doesn’t have much in basketball left to prove, I just think he mainly went there because of the destination (not because of basketball).

2 things, YES I would be just as excited if he went to Charlotte. I am a fan of the NBA game itself. I am one of the few on here that records and watches other teams Vegas summer league games. Or a Hawks vs Nets preseason game. I probably record 5 or 6 games a night during the season and jam through them. I was surprised how many on here only watch Blazer games.
Secondly, i know you don’t know this because you are new to our neighborhood, but I’m NOT a Laker fan. It’s a long running joke. All my family is from SoCal, I have Mexican blood in me and have worked for them in the past. 3 things that I believe became a running joke around here and it turned The HCP into a Laker fan. Shit, I even got a Blazers tattoo 15 years ago

Lol I legit thought you were a laker fan. /shame.

I watch Blazer games and if there off I will watch other teams. I always read up and pay attention to other teams though.
I said earlier I am interested to see how he does at least slightly.

I definitely consume a lot of basketball but probably not as much as you.

The thing about Lebron to LA is I think he’s at the point in life and his career basketball is kind of secondary. I think he’s basically fine if they’re good, fine if they aren’t. I’m not sure how driven he will be to carry them, which does kind of dampen my expectations for the LBJ in LA thing.

Looks more like you're a fan of nepotism, which actually sounds like a Los Angeles thing to do.

I'm implying that the NEP of your tattoo stands for nepotism.

    It's not brain science.
