One thing I notice as a common problem here in Portland is drivers going up snow coverered hills go WAAAAAY too slow. Momentum is your friend people. And, please god, don't fucking STOP! Jeez, if I hadn't been in my AWD, I would have got stuck several times last night, as too many idiots stop going uphill.
I just remember that I had to walk about 4 car lengths back to my car. She was driving a newer Mercedes. Tires were probably fine, but no chains. It was a solid sheet of ice there in between Union Jacks and the Doug Fir. I had to rev in 1st and turn my steering wheel back and forth to get any traction. I think she just didn't know what to do and I was getting frustrated.
I just retrieved my truck off Germantown Rd...people were definitely out of their element last night. It was like watching bumper cars. I saw 5 cars hit each other (and block the road) before I got sick of waiting and walked home...
WOW yeah I guess it is. I remember driving along and seeing many cars stopped on the side of the road, and felt smug i kept my chains in my trunk. I saw a cali plate and was even more smug.
It's funny when people try to turn a corner to fast and their car starts sliding forward and they don't let off of the turn! Or if they hit the brakes and start sliding they just stay locked on the brakes. Anyone know how the roads are now? Any better?
