I take back everything I said about Smush, sorry man! And we can finally put to rest the whole Kobe and Smush tension stuff, it's obvious this has brought them much closer and it's all done with. By far I think the best Laker gave I've ever seen, it's up there with the .4 derek fisher shot. This game had two game winners, everything came into place, the steal by smush, the Jump Ball, theN RECEIVING the jump ball, then Kobe taking it all the way with no timeouts, fade-away, two players in his face, hitting the FINAL game winner. It can be argued but by far the best Laker gave I've ever seen. It was close the WHOLE game, I wonder how many lead changes there were.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting jessica:</div><div class="quote_post">I can't stop watching the clip of it they have up at nba.com.</div> I know. Try watching it again and when Kobe hits that final shot don't watch Kobe or any of the Lakers... instead watch the crowd. I get goosebumps everytime I watch it.
I have a midterm tomorrow, but odds are I will stay up JUST to watch this game, maybe I'll go to sleep and wake up at 1:30 am just to watch the 4th qtr and over time... either way- I will be watching sportscenter all night long

Now go and study.
<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post"> Steve Nash gave Kobe Bryant a chance to be the hero. Nash had a critical turnover in the final seconds of regulation and another gaffe in the waning moments of overtime before Bryant drained a jumper as time expired, giving the Los Angeles Lakers a thrilling 99-98 victory over the Phoenix Suns and a commanding 3-1 lead in their Western Conference first-round series. With the Suns holding a 98-97 lead and with three timeouts at their disposal, Nash was tied up along the sideline by Luke Walton with 6.1 seconds remaining in overtime. The 6-8 Walton won the tip from the 6-3 Nash at center court and the Lakers got the ball to Bryant, who dribbled up court and sank the winning shot from the right elbow over the outstretched arms of Raja Bell and Boris Diaw, sending the crowd at Staples Center into a frenzy. "I have been in a lot of game situations where in that type of scenario I have failed," Bryant said. "Trying to get to the basket and do too much. So I called back on some of my experience so that when I got the ball I tried not to rush it. I tried to turn and see what was going on and I took it from there." "It was amazing," Nash said of Bryant's heroics. "He had two opportunities and he made two great shots. I guess it wasn't meant to be for us." Bryant pounded his chest at the crowd amid chants of "MVP, MVP" as the seventh-seeded Lakers pushed the second-seeded Suns to the brink of elimination. Teams holding a 3-1 series lead are 153-7 all-time. Nash, the reigning MVP who reportedly will win the award for a second straight year, also had the major mistake in regulation that allowed the Lakers to get to overtime. With the Suns holding a 90-88 lead with just under eight seconds remaining in the fourth quarter, Nash had the ball knocked away by Smush Parker along the left sideline - nearly the same point where he got tied up by Walton. Again, the Lakers got the ball to Bryant, who hit a one-handed floating layup with seven-tenths of a second left to tie the game. http://www.nba.com/games/20060430/PHXLAL/recap.html </div> One lucky shot for another While many people who are mad at Nash for "stealing" MVP from Kobe, you gotta give that little bastard credit, he is a good sport. He always shows good sportmanship even when his team lost. <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">"It was amazing," Nash said of Bryant's heroics. GREAT press conference by Kobe today, you can catch it on NBA.COM it was really good, said this was the most emotion he had from a game winner and that this one was his favorite. Gave a lot of credit to smush, luke, sasha, Lamar, etc. Recommend everyone to watch it, Smush is on the press conference too.
Man, Steve Nash is really a great sport. I used to think he was a prick, but this guy has a good heart. I mean us Laker fans all of a sudden "hate" him, but is it his won he won MVP? ALl he did was play the game, and play it well, not his fault he was chosen 2 years in a row....

Instead of Why smush's not passing to kobe, we should talk about how big the Lakers were today. I disagree with the best game. I think its between Robert Horry's shot against Queens and .4

By him winning the 2 MVPs in a role isn't his fault, it's the media and kobe hater's fault. When Kobe made the shot, I cracked up and slapped my hand so hard that I made my baby newphew crying . Great shot by a great player. Kobe is the king!

From Marion to Diaw to Nash they all seem like personable players. Too bad Kobe had to rip their hearts out, saute is with a buttery pineapple sauce, and wash it down with some chardonnay.
I started lightly crying when Smush stole the ball off Nash and Kobe layed it in. When Kobe hit the game winner I broke out. Tears coming down in all different directions (I'M DEAD SERIOUS). Life was so perfect at that time. Then my mom comes into my room and asks me whats wrong....and sobingly I said the Lakers won. My mom then suggested psychiatric help. I'm not ashamed to write this because I love my Lakers organization, I love my Laker players, and I love my Laker fans. Go LA.
I dont feel sorry for nobody. Steve Nash and the Suns deserve what they got. I just hope we can finish them off. He won the MVP and he thought he was gonna have an easy series against us and wer'e proving them wrong. Time for the suns to go fishing.

dude you really don't think this qualifies as best Laker game ever, beating d fisher's .4? I mean, don't get me wrong, that was amazing.. But the way this game played out, not just ONE clutch shot, but two to win the game by Kobe, was simply amazing. I thought there was no way Lakers could win it, everyone came through for the Lakers, EVERYONE. .4 was amazing too, but I think this is the only one that has the chance of surpassing it, just my opinion though.
