I don't think KP ever wanted Conley anyway. It was likely Memphis trying to get Outlaw and being rejected that started the rumors.
As long as the Griz continue to play Mayo in the 2 position - they no longer have a glut of point-guards on the roster. They now have a starter (Lowy) and a backup (Conley) (or they can choose to switch them around). It makes the need for them to thin the PG herds a little less pressing.
KP only wanted COnley before the draft. We already have a better prospect, and 2 better PGs. The only benefit is him and Oden are friends, and we do not need to baby Oden... we need to tough him up.
I wouldn't be surprised if Greg's thinking about leaning on friends from his past about 1000 less times a day then posters here are speculating that he might be/just because something is speculated about ad nausea in this community doesn't make it 1% real STOMP
Still time, amigo. Anyone think KP's offer was that we'd give up a bunch of stuff, but we're getting MEM's 1st back? They now, iirc, have two roster spots open. 3-for-1, 4-for-2, 5-for-3??
You really think so? They got a prospect in Javaris Critenton and Mike James for Antonio Daniels and the Memphis pick. In my opinion, the Memphis pick is going to be in the high lottery, so it was worth more than making that deal, but let's not forget Mike James was very good in Toronto a couple of years back and they could use a scoring punch with Arenas still sidelined. I actually like this trade for just about all the teams honestly, as it suits their needs.
Mike James is a poor mans Jamal Crawford, not exactly a compliment. All he is good for is to chuck up ill advised jumpers. He hasn't been the same since he returned to Houston. Crittenton isn't really that great of a prospect anymore. If you can't get off of the bench in Memphis, than wow. He may turn out to be decent, but I'd rather take my chances in the lottery.
Actually the thing I want to know after the trade is: 1. Does this mean that Carone Butler is available? I could give a rats ass about Conley. 2. What exactly is up with Javaris Crittendon that has had him shipped to 2 teams in 1.5 seasons when he has what is considered good upside? Is it that he just happens to fill the salary cap space in 2 trades on teams he happened to be on at the time, is he a deal sweetner, or is he somebody that teams try to get rid of once he is a known quantity? 3. Why would anybody take a chance with Mike James at this point. A few years late, a few steps short. The only reason I could see is if the Wizards want to tank to win the lotto.
I haven't looked at the contracts of James and AD, but that probably plays a factor. I do think it was big for Memphis to get it's first-rounder back this year, even though I think the draft will be kind of weak.
