I gave your ridiculous attempt at a rebuttal all the attention it deserved. Every single example I brought up actually happened and was ruled to be legal discrimination by the law. Yet it has come to pass that those who believe homosexuality is a sin, those people are forced to "reform" their views. I believe in freedom of choice. That means living your life the way you choose (as long as it doesn't harm anyone else), and also being allowed discriminate if you so choose.
I am being descriptive here, rather than self-pitying. Christians had plenty of opportunities — thousands of years’ worth — to treat gay people with real charity, and far too often chose intolerance. (And still do, in many instances and places.) So being marginalized, being sued, losing tax-exempt status — this will be uncomfortable, but we should keep perspective and remember our sins, and nobody should call it persecution.
No one has to recant his/her faith. A business is not a church. A business is open to any customer who pays. A church is for your faith. Courts have been very clear on this. When businesses said their religion required segregation, the courts ruled that they could not be white only. When businesses said their faith required men be head of household, courts ruled they could not pay women less. And when businesses say their religion requires them to hate gays, courts are ruling they can't refuse service. They can favor segregation, dominance over women, homophobia, but they cannot discriminate if they run a business open to the public. Douthat whining again is like saying it's raining in the Northwest. Yes, straight white Christian men have always been the victims of persecution. Sure. They are so "maginalized" they have been 43 of 44 presidents, 44 vice presidents, about 90% of Supreme Court justices, dominate business, entertainment, media, politics. But they are being persecuted by evil gays who want to get married and play ball.
Jason played ball for several years without me or you ever knowing he was gay. I tend not to ask about that sort of thing because I don't have any need to know. My question is, why does Jason or any other person disagree and think I and everyone else needs to know?
No I don't think they do want to get Married. The gays want the rights granted to married people by the government. Being married has alway been a religious ceremony and in all religions it is the joining of a man and woman in the eyes of God. Gay's seem to want the word just as they have taken the word "gay". My guess is they could be joined in a civil manner (Union) and obtain all the rights they seek. But it appears that is not good enough, they want the word "Married" to mean what ever joining together with god having nothing to do with the joining. The only purpose in this pursuit is to stick the thumb in the eye of those that do value the joining together in the eyes of god.
That's bullshit. When I sign up customers for a sailing trip to sport shoot pirates, I am not going to sign on any Muslims because I don't trust them. The pirates we seek are sure to be Muslim.
Astonishingly (sarcasm) MarAzul is ignorant of law, marriage history, and gay rights movement goals. And English grammar/punctuation. My not surprising read of the day.
Well you can hardly call it self defense when you are looking for the pirates. But I suppose it would be proper to call it predator control.
Jason Collins staying with Nets for the rest of the season. http://espn.go.com/new-york/nba/sto...klyn-nets-sign-jason-collins-remainder-season Someone (PapaG maybe) said that they would admit it isn't a publicity stunt if the Nets signed Collins for the rest of the season. I don't know that this proves that but they are the one who put those words out there.
I think it was me. Good on the Nets for keeping a guy with a PER of -1.2 and a WS/48 of -.06 on their roster. I'm still not sold, but the Nets did give the guy money. They must be able to overcome having a worthless player in their roster. Jason Collins as a Net per/36 numbers: 2.3 pts 27% FG 50% FT 2.8 steals 0.9 assists 2.8 rebounds (per 36, remember) 0.0 blocks 8.3 fouls 2.8 turnovers Why is this guy still in the league? He terrible. Then again, the Nets did blow a bunch of money on other players.
Stupid post. A massage therapist has to massage an unbathed client with open sores all over? A maid service HAS to clean a hoarders house covered with cat feces? A bar has to serve someone who is already drunk? I should go into a restaurant with no shoes or shirt and sue when they want me to leave because I have money to pay. I know these aren't exactly the same thing but they disprove the statement made quite clearly. If I were a religious baker I'd make the cakes against my will. They would just be really bad cakes the customers wouldn't like if they were lucky enough that it didn't get dropped on ACCIDENT when being delivered. I personally am pro gay rights now and I wonder what I and the rest of the world has been thinking this whole time but I like the piece Maxie linked that talked about dissent.
